Sandy B (sbenemer) | 161 comments Captivating tale of the Korean Immigrant experience in middle America, juxtaposed with a searing re-telling of life in Northern Korea during their Great War in the 1940’s/50’s. The protagonists, a N Korean-born pauper turned doctor and his privileged wife from the richest family in their village, make their way to Minnesota to raise their child (Einstein Albert Schweitzer Nobel Kwak) and the modern-day portion of the story is frankly, zany and hilarious. The flashbacks to the Korean War were beautifully rendered and eye-opening. Really enjoyed this book and still think about it, 2 months after finishing it.
