A book about the visit of an English artist and a French linguist and the islanders on a remote island off Ireland one summer during The Troubles (1970s).
The writing is in a poetry / conversational / thinking-out-loud style which is a bit difficult to follow at the beginning but it slowly grows on you. There is an intimacy about this kind of writing in which you feel you are part of the conversations or a close observant of the happenings. The story between the characters is socially and politically driven but I feel that it could happen anywhere and not necessarily in Ireland during The Troubles.
