Adele (delbert59) | 98 comments For the very first time I was invited to read a book in advance of its publication.
I was able to easily do that here on Goodreads but I wanted to be able to also do it on Amazon. It’s available for pre-order on Amazon and when I click on the add my review button I get a notice saying this book is not eligible for review yet.

I see that some of my favorite reviewers ( you know who you are ) have been able to leave a review. I’m looking for advice on how to do that?

message 2: by Dung (new)

Dung | 13 comments From my I understanding,if you actually purchased the book prior to the release date you can leave a review. Otherwise, you have to wait for the release date in order to do so.

I had that issue when I first started. Is there a paperback option already available? If so, they are probably leaving reviews that way.

Katja | 287 comments Currently Jan Ashton's newest won't let you review the ebook version but I was able to leave one on the paperback edition.

Adele (delbert59) | 98 comments Thank you !

message 6: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 869 comments I always hate to be the first to review a paperback. I always think Amazon will block it since its so obvious I didn't order the book. LOL

message 7: by Adele (new)

Adele (delbert59) | 98 comments Well that worked wonders! I shared your information with the Author since she couldn’t get Amazon to help her either! You are all so helpful and wise. I’m ditching my therapist and coming directly here from now on
😉

Anne | 66 comments I asked booksprout and they said to just wait until the official release date. That’s what I’ve done.

message 10: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 869 comments I think the teams understand when there is a slight delay in getting the Amazon review up. I have noticed there are a few days leeway from the date of release to last day to have the review posted.
Amazon can get the review up within a half hour, or can take 4-5 days. (Very annoying)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 166 comments Now that Kindle doesn't accept .mobi files, has anyone figured out if there's a way to load Booksprout books? I hate reading their ARCs from my computer or cell phone, which is what I've been stuck with for the past month.

message 12: by Katja (new)

Katja | 287 comments I nearly always read on my cellphone so I don't know if this works for you but if you go to Manage content and devices/ content/docs page on the amazon desktop site, and find your document there, there's an option that says "deliver to device"
can you see the device that you want there?

message 13: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 345 comments Debbie, you have to get the EPUB version to send to Kindle.

I can still read the MOBI file on my Kindle app on the laptop.

message 14: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 869 comments That's what I do. I have the EPUB sent to my email and then fwd a blank email to my Default Kindle app reader email address.
It glitched in the beginning, but they seem to have the quirks worked out now.

message 15: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 166 comments I tried loading the epub file and ended up with an error email. Have you gotten it to load? Maybe it depends on what version of Kindle you have? Mine is a 10th Generation Kindle Paperwhite.

message 16: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 166 comments Sam, our comments overlapped. It WAS right after Kindle stopped accepting MOBI files that I tried EPUB unsuccessfully several times. Maybe I just need to try again now that it's been a few weeks. Next time I get an ARC...!

Sam H. | 869 comments I find I have to keep the email completely blank and nothing in the subject line.
Perhaps it works differently for others, but that seems to be what works for me.

I use a Samsung tablet with the kindle app. From what I understood actual kindles had higher preference on this update. We had to wait a bit longer.

Susan (vesper1931) | 30 comments If it is an ePUB I send it to my kindle email with the subject Convert. Should work for PDF's as well. As long as you send it from your email address on amazon

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 907 comments I download Mobi files to Book Bazaar Reader on my computer.

message 20: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 345 comments Jeanne, does Book Bazaar read aloud?

message 21: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 907 comments I don't think so but have never wanted that feature so I've never looked for it. I don't remember seeing it.

message 22: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 345 comments OK, Thanks

Sam H. | 869 comments J. W. wrote: "I download Mobi files to Book Bazaar Reader on my computer."

Is that an app?

I use Moon+Reader Pro, it has no many optional features. I don't think it reads aloud tho

message 24: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 907 comments You can Google Book Bazaar and it will give you information about the site. It took me a while to learn how to navigate it and my book list. I'm not very adventurous. If I can read a book, I'm happy. That is all I require. I have it on my computer so I can read it better. My phone is too small for reading a book. I have a NOOK that I use for Book Funnel and Kindle downloads. I use Book Bazaar for the Mobi files. It works.

message 25: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 869 comments I did and saw it was a microsoft app.
That is was I use my little tablet for. Ain't technology grand?!!

message 26: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 907 comments When it works... yes! So much is available to me through them. I would be a very dull person without my tech toys [computer, phone, and tablet] that connect me to my books.

message 27: by abmom (new)

abmom | 288 comments If you want text to speech feature for mobi, you can try Alreader. It's navigation will take some getting used to but it does support many file formats and also text to speech.

message 28: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 345 comments Thanks for the suggestion, abmom.

I looked at download instructions for AlReader. First, I would have to install an Android Emulator and then the AlReader.

It seems above my comfort level, downloading-wise.

I am going to stay with my current setup for Alexa to read to me.
