One will be eliminated. If they can prove themselves to be the best, they will survive. Most of them.

Beginning & Chapter 1: Weapons
(view spoiler)[I am not the biggest fan of long chapters, but I love that we have a big chapter and then all the different POVs. And usually with a lot of POV things tend to start slow, because you need to understand who is who, but here it's like all is going pretty fast! And I love the way in which we get to meet all these characters for the first time! Nico and Libby sound pretty fun together, I love some good banter and it seems like these two would provide it!
And I enjoyed Reina too. I am on the fence with the other three, they sound interesting for sure, but I don't know if I would like them or not.
Characters aside is all quite mysterious! Atlas is not really explain anything, and it is a tad infuriating! And we get some glimpse of the world but we don't see a lot of it, and I have questions!!!
But so far I am pretty intrigued by it! (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 2-3 & 4
(view spoiler)[Libby is quite growing tiresome. I don't dislike her, or at least not yet, and there are some parts in which I really liked her, but for the most part, I can see why the others don't like her too much.
And I don't know if I like or not the unbalance from the POVs, meaning that we get to read some more than others. And on one hand, I think that a more balanced thing would have been better because it would be interesting to really know more about the characters and their abilities, and since they are not really telling what they are (even because, in some cases, they don't know the extent of it), I am curious and spending more time in their head would have helped.
On the other hand, I am not the biggest fan of Paris and Callum, even if Callum is fascinating in his own ways. So maybe spending less time with them it's not a bad thing.
So... I am still undecided here.
But what I know is that I want to know more about what they are doing there. And I am not talking about the "lessons" or whatever they are doing there (even if I would have loved them), but about how they would choose the one to eliminate, and what "eliminate" mean here, because even before the meeting between Dalton and Paris, that is a sort of cliff-hanger and that confirms my fears, I was wondering because things don't really add up here, and nobody is questioning it. It is a bit maddening!!

On another unrelated note, I think my favorite is Nico. I love his relationship with Gideon, and I really hope to see more Gideon (and possibly Max, too) around, because they are amazing! And the battle part with Nico as the main POV was awesome and exhilarating! I loved it!!! (hide spoiler)]

Until Part 3 Battle
(view spoiler)[This already seems quite promising, haven’t read the blurb so ready to be surprised. The artwork in the fairyloot edition is beautiful and unexpected, love it! The print is so small tho🤣

Libby and Nico are definitely enemies to lovers lmao - freaking love them already. I’m not sure about Nico’s power though; so they all have one power? Then his is something related to earth? I already love Reina, her plant magic is really cool. So Nico & Libby are physicists, then one of them will probably leave? I mean the others all seem to have different talents and theirs is the same so makes sense if one of them will leave in the end, I’m guessing Nico; he’ll probably do it for his love for her or something. I do think the 6th will just die so that scares me lol.

Love that Tristan can see through illusions lmao, can’t wait to learn more about their powers. Callum seems like a dick tbh, hope he loses 🤣 I’m trying to figure out the marks on the front of the book, there are different signs that must represent the 6 and I'm trying to figure out who’s who but I don’t know yet. I’m loving Parisa - and Atlas is a mind reader too! I was wondering what he could do, love it. And she said something about feeling a connection to one of the 6 in his mind, so I’m guessing that’s her, what are the odds that he’s her father?

Woah I thought Gideon was like an old butler but he’s really cool; didn’t expect mermaids to be a thing and all that! Max is so cool too omg, can’t wait to learn more about them. Also thought Nico would be rich but it seems like he's not? Parisa seems so intense and I can’t get a read on Dalton at all. (hide spoiler)]

Until Part 4 space
(view spoiler)[Libby is already annoying me quite much. It’s all still quite vague why they’re even here, and I can’t wait to learn more about that. I’m also wondering whether it’s possible that Dalton actually ‘lost’ in his year and is now thus bound to the archives or something? It’s either that or the one who loses just dies.

Love that they now all know each other’s powers, but I still don’t understand the signs on the front of my cover which means that they must still develop their real powers idk. I also wonder what Tristan saw in Callum that he doesn’t want the others to know? The battle was really cool, to finally see them in action! And apparently they can amplify each other’s power then? Still don’t love Libby but at least her powers are strong. Wonder what happened between Callum & Parisa for sure. I think I like Reina and Nico the most so far, I’m just not sure about the others. Still kinda confused about what’s going on anyway lol. Also, they were all just fine with killing people? Whut. (hide spoiler)]

I massively dislike Libby still, and her just not listening to anything Ezra said sucks. She honestly sucks so much, hope she’ll be eliminated oop sorry not sorry. Callum is a true psychopath tbh, playing with others. Don’t like him either. Hope either he or Libby is the one who will be eliminated/dies.

I adore Nicolas and Gideon so much omg, they crack me up. Gideon’s mother was also surprisingly cool, they can honestly have their own spin-off story 🤔 woah so Dalton can bring things to life?? Hot damn that’s cool, I want to know more about all the gifts. Also love that he might be Dutch hehe. Him and Atlas are giving me odd vibes though, I’m not sure whether we should trust them. I knew it, they’ll have to kill each other aaah!! That was so obvious lol. I wonder if I’d rather have a mental or physical power by the way🤔 (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I knew it’d be Libby that would do things with time, one of the illustrations in the book kinda spoiled that. I mean it was literally on the first page, why not start with an illustration that doesn’t spoil something big😂 Anyway, can’t wait to see how that’ll go. I kinda like Parisa, she could be such a villain, really like that, and I love her powers. Loved the test and how she’s getting closer to Dalton. This book is actually kinda odd now that I think about it, not that much actually happens? I’d thought they had actual tests like the first battle and not just researching for the rest of the time. I’m guessing Atlas has altered Dalton’s memories for some reason, I just don’t know why. I don’t trust Atlas. I just don’t trust the society in general, I think the Forum is the right thing to look at, and Reina will realize that in time. I wish we’d get more chapters from her, she’s for some reason quite interesting to me. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Damn the threesome came out of nowhere? But that was cool lol. Still don’t like Libby, she reminds me of the standard virgin YA protagonist with her naivety and stuff idk. The scene inside Nico’s head was intense, Callum seriously (nearly) killed Parisa. Her past was more intense than I expected tho, glad we finally learned a little! Callum almost seemed to read her mind himself 🤔

I’m quite sure that Parisa is playing Tristan basically and making him obsessed with Libby, I just don’t know why. Maybe she wants her and thus Nico and by extension also Reina to be with her, like Callum said earlier? Wait Ezra was at the house??? Whut???? What was that about suddenly? And Nico can shapeshift too what??????? I’m so confused right now lol how is that possible??????? (hide spoiler)]

Until Part VIII Death

Her questions annoy me so much I can’t even, and now she’s throwing a childish tantrum over something that was obvious but she’s stupid so of course she didn’t understand that. She annoys me so much omg I hope she’s the one who will die. So over her whining I can’t even describe how annoyed I am at this point. Her constant questions remind me of Poppy from Blood and Ash, who also got so annoying with her stupid questions. Argh!!!!

Woah the interlude - Ezra seemed like the boss of Atlas or something? Why do I suddenly feel like he’s the guy who the young Dalton was talking about??? What if he’s the old curator or something? I think he is omg he’s evil?? Can’t wait to finally understand the scenario in Dalton’s head tbh.

I liked the Callum chapter because we FINALLY learned more about everyone. I still don’t know what to think of him, I wonder if we’ll ever find out what he’s hiding?? His comment about Atlas vouching for Libby is important for sure, I’m guessing he’s the one who he was talking about in the beginning, the key to it all or something? I also wonder if we’ll ever learn more about Tristan’s powers, doesn’t seem like it’ll be in this book ugh. I feel like barely anything happened?? Can’t believe Callum would kill Tristan though what a dick. Tristan is like this confused puppy who’s just used by everyone, he does seem perfect for Libby who’s just as easily influenced. Also thought Libby & Nico would get together but doesn’t really seem like it now, Nico - Gideon maybe? Would not mind that lol (hide spoiler)]

Dalton is definitely under Atlas’ control, with or without his knowledge, but I’m kind of scared to see whether he’ll turn out evil or not. Can't wait to finally get some clarity/answers and some truth in the next book! Think I enjoyed it, even though not that many things happened? Idk it somehow did keep me hooked. (hide spoiler)]

I mean Tristan, Callum, and Parisa have some scary powers, especially the last two, but they are also quite forged by their powers because manipulating feelings and thoughts and reading constantly what other people feel or think require a high toll. But I am with you about Atlas and Dalton, there is something really strange going on with Dalton, but I don't trust them. The problem is that I don't trust the Forum, either, because things are not adding up on this side. I mean, the part in which they approach every one of them is just done so... sloppy? I mean, they are trying to recruit the Mcs to their cause, and they all went at it in the worst possible way, they managed to annoy and irk every single person they approached. And this is mighty strange in my book! They are not dummies at what they do, obviously, or they wouldn't be a thorn in the side of the Society, and yet they went at it so wrong!!! How is it even possible?

Chapters 5-6 & 7
(view spoiler)[Nothing is happening, and if on one hand is a bit maddening because really, there is nothing happening here! On the other hand, I am still quite hooked by the book. I am not reading it as fast as I'd like, but it is not the book's fault.
But I think that, even if I am hooked up and I am enjoying my time with it, there are too many things that don't really add up if you stop and think about them.
Firstly they all talked about their meeting with the Forum's people (Nico aside, because he didn't meet them) and nobody think that they went at it in the worst possible way. Then they all accept that they have to kill someone to stay there, and yes it is almost the most logical solution because they keep saying that it is a secret society, so it won't stay secret if every year you have a person go back home from that (even more so because if you eliminate someone, this person can be mad at it, or he (or she) can want revenge because he feels that he didn't deserve to be sent home etc...), so yeah, it is the most logical conclusion but it is quite different for me that I am external to it to accept that (I don't have to murder anyone!) and for them to just say "oh, it's not right! But hey, wait a moment... it makes sense so... okay, I disagree but let's do it!". It makes sense but it speak about really callous people! (hide spoiler)]

And anyway, these two together tried to do what I was hoping for our characters. I was hoping for them to team up and try to change the system. It was a bit sad to see them all accept things like they are. But there are so many mysteries in there, too. We are left with a lot of questions!!!! (hide spoiler)]

I have started this one... like 10% in and I am loving Nico and Libby so far... I read the foreword? and i thought it was going to be like a factual book... I should've read the synopsis first but now... i am glad I stuck with it... I think Ezra did fall in love with Libby and took her to keep her safe and not be used by Atlas.
