52. Published in 2023

And for our final prompt of 2023, a book published this year! You may be saving this prompt for a special book that you’re been eagerly awaiting, or you may decide to keep this prompt open and “wing it” with a newly published, popular read. This also could be interpreted as a book that’s out in paperback or audio for the first time but was previously published in another format. It’s up to you!

Gerry Durisin | 69 comments Windfall The Prairie Woman Who Lost Her Way and the Great-Granddaughter Who Found Her by Erika Bolstad Windfall: The Prairie Woman Who Lost Her Way and the Great-Granddaughter Who Found Her by Erika Bolstad. I find the subtitle of this book a bit misleading, as it was less about the search for Anna, the author's grandmother, and what the author discovered about her, than about the environmental and other issues related to the oil industry in North Dakota. So it wasn't what I was looking for, despite having a good bit of interesting information. It was a bit repetitive, but all in all, a decent read. 3 stars.

Tanya (taztamaranth) | 76 comments I read Clytemnestra by Costanza Casati -- about Agamemnon's wife/murderer. It's quite gritty and at pains to be historically accurate, as far as is possible: quite dark.

message 33: by Belinda (new)

Belinda Angus | 16 comments I am using Earth’s the Right Place for Love by Elizabeth Berg for this prompt. Mostly because it doesn’t fit any of the other props and it really was not my favorite book but it fits the description. I gave this three stars because it was so slow and mundane that I would not recommend it.

message 47: by Aquaria (new)

Aquaria | 286 comments Hannah Dolby - No Life for a Lady.

It's all right. Not the most exciting or the worst mystery I've read. The cover is my sore point, because it doesn't match the content.

Chain of Thorns (The Last Hours, #3) by Cassandra Clare

message 50: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 71 comments Just finished Ward D by Freida McFadden, who never disappoints. I started reading this on the treadmill yesterday, which was a mistake. As with all her thrillers, my heart rate went up a little faster than it should have, lol. Four stars. As always, it's a great read, but not her best.
