Another great chapter! Mainly because of Rake and Whiskeyjack. These 2 characters and their budding friendship are simply wonderful to read. I really wish we get to read more of Rake, but somehow it seems that Erikson set him up to be this distant and mysterious icon to be idolised but never to be known intimately. And he continues to surprise us with his wisdom and humanity.

Rake again displays his awesomeness "Hardly, I mean to scare them witless. In person". Bill Capossere who is one of the hosts of Tor.com Malazan re-read has an abbreviation for Rake, which is T.A.T.I.R, i. The Awesomeness That Is Rake. I agree wholeheartedly.

I have to say this again - the relationship between Whiskeyjack and Korlat is absolutely beautiful!

The scene between Quick Ben and Bauchelain is brilliantly entertaining. Although I have to say I still do not know what role Bauchelain and Broach play in this book.

Paran has yet another new title "The One Who Blesses". Very intriguing indeed.. and how did Cafal know about it?
