This discussion thread is to mark your completion of the January challenge to fulfill prompt #3 A book about a vacation. It may be a brand new year, but I already feel as if I need a vacation! :)

Would you recommend this book? Yes! I really liked it. Lots of twists and I liked how the author had a theme running through some of the chapter titles.

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments Title: The Summer of Broken Rules
Author: K.L. Walther
Would you recommend this book? It depends.

This book is a pretty fluffy romance, although the undercurrent of the story is the protagonist getting back to living again 18 months after the death of her sister. I'm not sorry or mad that I read it, but it's also not one that I would go out of my way for. There are a couple of references to Taylor Swift, but I don't think this story is a must for that reason alone.

Would you recommend this book? Yes. I was intrigued from the first line, and it kept building. Couldn't wait to see what happened and finished it in two days. Very satisfying thriller.

Would you recommend this book? Yes. I loved it.

message 9: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (belalusia) Title: Caribbean Mystery
Author: Agatha Christie
Would you recommend this book? Yes, it was woven in such a way that I really had no idea who the murderer was up until the very last moment, though perhaps I'm not the most versed in murder mysteries. This was my first Agatha Christie and I did enjoy it.

Would you recommend this book? Yes...my one word explanation of this book is eerie!! I loved it!! I was on the edge of my chair the last 1/3 of the book. I enjoyed all the plot twists and turns.

Would you recommend this book? 1000%! This is the best thriller I've read so far and enjoyed how many twists were at the end!

Would you recommend it? Maybe. It was an interesting story but I really don't care for the writing style. Having several paragraphs of historical introspection in between "The dog barked" and "I went to investigate" and having that be the pace of every 3 page chapter just gets really old. I typically read books very quickly and this one took me most of a week.

Author: Jodi Picoult
Would you recommend this book?
Yes, I really enjoyed it. There’s a twist that threw me for a bit and I can see how it would turn some people off. But by the end I felt the author pulled it off perfectly.

message 16: by Tania (new)

Tania | 678 comments I finished this prompt using a nonfiction book, would have also worked as one I read last year but I've already filled that prompt with another book.

Title: Walt Disney World and Epcot Center
Author: Valerie Childs and Walt Disney Company
Would You Recommend This Book? I would - especially if you are interested in the history of the Walt Disney World theme parks. For me this was a nostalgia read, getting to revisit the way things looked when I was a kid, vs. what they are today.

Yes! Four stars- this was such a great thriller with the lochs of Scotland as a stellar setting.

Would you recommend this book? Yes, it's not typically my genre so I'm glad this book is expanding my horizons. Slow start, but the end was worth it. I stayed up to finish once I got to a certain point.
