2.3 (Pat's Task) TWO GIFTS FROM ME AND YOUR TBR SHELVES ~
Read 2 Books
I don't know about you, but my TBR shelves have more books on them than I can read in ten lifetimes. Let's open and read 2 of them this month.
**NOTE ~ If you're like me, you have multiple TBR lists, based on different criteria (mine are where the books are sourced, when I added them, challenges that I participate in , etc.). You may use whatever TBR lists you like - the same one, two different ones, whatever works to get these two books off your TBR lists and onto your READ one!
First, sort your TBR by whatever method you wish (pages, publication date, author, rating, etc).
Then, match your sorted TBR book positions and select a book with a position number that matches one of the dates in that celebration's 2022 calendar dates.
You may change your sorting choices between your two selections if you like, or you may use the same sort to select both books, but use a different celebration calendar for your second book choice and be sure to include the celebrations and dates that you used for each book in your post.
Happy Reading!
CHRISTMAS ~
The 12 days of Christmas is the period in Christian theology that marks the span between the birth of Christ and the coming of the Magi, the three wise men. It begins on December 25 (Christmas) and runs through January 6 (the Epiphany, sometimes also called Three Kings' Day).
2022 Calendar Dates ~ 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
HANUKKAH ~
Chanukah (also spelled Hanukkah) is an 8-day Jewish festival marking the miraculous victory of the Maccabees, Jewish freedom fighters, over the Seleucidian Greek occupiers in the year 139 BCE. Because it follows the Jewish calendar instead of the Gregorian one, we celebrate it on different dates each year. Chanukah (Hanukkah) 2022 starts at nightfall on December 18, 2022 and ends with nightfall on December 26, 2022, beginning on the Hebrew calendar date of 25 Kislev, and lasting for eight days.
2022 Calendar Dates ~ 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
KWANZAA ~
Kwanzaa is a weeklong celebration held in the United States that honors African heritage in African-American culture. Kwanzaa is observed from December 26th to January 1st, and culminates in gift giving and a big feast. It was conceived as a nonpolitical and nonreligious holiday, and it is not considered to be a substitute for Christmas. Although Kwanzaa is primarily an African American holiday, it has also come to be celebrated outside the United States, particularly in Caribbean and other countries where there are large numbers of descendants of Africans.
2022 Calendar Dates ~ 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 1
2.4 (Amber's Task) The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Read 2 Books
December is my favorite month of the whole year. I live in the southeast and hate when it gets cold for here but for me December is an entire month for fun and festivities.
My birthday is December 1st so I start the month being thankful for another year. Everything is all decorated around town just for the occasion (in my mind I wish this were true). So my present to you is
1. Read any book off your TBR list.
The rest of the month besides being all decked out for my birthday LOL, is full of fun activities that only come around in December. I go to the town Christmas Parade, this year I already went to see a high school production of Elf, cookie swaps, pot lucks, parties, Gingerbread decorating, time with family and friends and for me most importantly celebrating Jesus' birth.
2. Read a book where the characters participate in some activity associated with a holiday that falls in the month of December. Does not have to be Christmas. It can be Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve or any other holiday in December. Please share with us the holiday and what the characters did to celebrate that holiday.
Here is a list of some holidays in December (if I missed your holiday I truly do apologize and would love to hear more about it)
