Hello dear members of RMFAO,

Here comes another year and this time it brings with it the 9th instalment of the RMFAO Genre Challenge!

With 17 genres to be read over 12 months and a special game month in July, we are back with loads of adventures for the daring bibliophiles.

For the uninitiated, in Genre Challenge, we read one genre every month and two genres when we have the alternate-genre months. The genre-list is posted in advance so that everyone can plan their reads well in time each month.

The focus of this challenge is not only to read more books in the genres we love but also to explore new, long-forgotten, unfamiliar or lesser-known genres. As we don't want to burden or restrict the participants by specifying sub-genres (because that creates a very different set of its own problems that will hinder the actual reading), we prefer that the readers pick the sub-genres at their convenience.

You do not have to buy new books to participate in this challenge; all you have to do is go through the books you already have and organise your TBR-list as per the genres for this challenge.
Another, one of the coolest things, about this challenge is that the moderators are super awesome and keep on sharing tons of resources and recommendations!

In order to participate, simply announce your participation here (you can even blog about it if you want to or share a post about it on social media.)

And now on to the Genre List...

RMFAO 2023 Genre-List:

Brenda,

The message boards for each month's Genre Challenge can be found in this folder:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

You can post your book titles for the challenge in the specific folder for each month you participate. This message board is more of a general announcement board for the challenge and a link will be posted here each month for the specific genre to be read.

I hope this helps. It can be a bit confusing at first. You can post any questions you have about the Genre Challenge here.

July's Genre Challenge is going to be Game Month. I wanted to post the 4 Games a bit early, so that those getting books through inter-library loans can plan ahead and receive their books in time for the challenge.

1. Catch Phrase Game - This was very popular last year, so we wanted to bring it back for our final Game Month. Read a book with a catch-phrase title. The book's title can be a pun, nursery rhyme, variation on a movie/book title, popular phrase, etc. Often seen in Cozies and other mysteries.

2. Christmas in July - Read a book set during Christmas, in winter or somewhere cold.

3. Solo Game - Read a book with only one word in the title, or one person/thing on the cover.

4. RMFAO Game - Read a book whose title contains a word beginning with R, M, F, A or O. (Excluding the words "a" or "an".)
