When Tommy and Laurent’s parents died, she was sent to live with her grandfather in Switzerland and he stayed in Massachusetts, raised with the Buchanans. Your thoughts about them having been separated as children, especially by continents?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Whoever the trustee/guardian was did not have the best interests of these kids in mind. It sounds like their welfare was left up to the institution who administered the trust and that just wasn't the right thing for these kids.

In my mind, I questioned why this was allowed to happen. It seems so sad for these siblings to be separated, especially after losing both parents.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I didn't understand this decision at all. It didn't make sense to me, and it wasn't in the best interest of the children.

Jessica | 156 comments I know of people who have gotten divorced and said you take one kid and I'll take the other. No thought to whether or not that's what's good for the kids. What happened to Tommy and Laurent was even worse than that. It's kind of amazing they weren't estranged.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I didn't understand why they were separated. That seems a terrible thing to do to siblings that have just lost their parents .

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I agree with you all.

Like Charlene, I’m in agreement with all of you and Anita you best articulated my thoughts. This was nuts, especially after her grandfather died.
