Jake had a cousin, Harley, who was a frequent visitor to their home and actually sparked the last argument between Bree’s parents that fateful night. Why do you think Bree had no memory of him until she saw that picture of him with Jake and the Curtis brothers?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments She repressed her memories to save what she could of her identity that night, and worried about her sister and brother.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I didn't think of this until you mentioned the third gunshot, Jonetta; but maybe Bree blocked out the fact that Harley was there the night her parents died. Maybe it wasn't a murder/suicide.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments Yes, repressed memories.

@Robin - I had my suspicions about this even in the first book I do think that Bree's father killed her mother, but someone else killed Jake.

I have to keep reminding myself that Bree was only 8-years old and her focus was on saving her siblings. All while being utterly frightened out of her mind. She seemed to have suppressed memories of everything else, which is understandable.

It’s still amazing she had no memory of Harley.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments She repressed the memory. She was dealing with too much and the fear took over.
