Cheryl (cherylllr) How do you make more time to read, or get more reading done in the time you have?

I've heard, for example, ppl listening to audiobooks on a higher speed. I don't think I'd do that, but maybe, if I was still listening to them on my daily walks? My main tip is, I don't watch any sort of TV, maybe a movie from the library once a year, a music video once a month from youtube.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Sorry, forgot to unlock this! Thank you Lizz for alerting me to do so!

I do listen to audiobooks when driving and I have to admit I just can't listen to them at normal speed. It depends on the narrator but usually I make them 1.25 speed when driving. I also have cut back on television and play Sudoku puzzle or work on a jigsaw puzzle while listening to an audiobook. And occasionally I have Siri read a book to me if I can't handle the poor punctuation (i.e. the Irish novels that don't use quotations).

Cheryl (cherylllr) I do have a stack of jigsaws waiting for me... that's an idea, to combine the two....

Cheryl (cherylllr) Reminds me, some people knit etc. while listening, too.

I usually listen when I am driving or cooking. I don't try to cram books in. For me it is a leisure activity, though sometimes I read for research purposes or to keep up with book clubs, like this one.

Pat of Rocks | 70 comments I formed a habit of carrying a book or my Kindle around everywhere I go to make reading my go-to activity rather than passing time on my phone.

Alice | 13 comments I don't enjoy audible. Kindle is hmm. I always like the feeling of a book in my hands. So I set myself to find the time I need.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I def. carry a book around. Carl Sandburg poetry for health providers' waiting rooms works great!

Otherwise I almost welcome insomnia; the last few weeks I've been so busy I've read about five pp. before conking out. And time during the day has been difficult to find. (Whine fuss....)

Addie (addielr) | 23 comments Kindle is amazing! I don't have much space in my tiny studio place, but I can put a thousand books in a Kindle and it's paperlike screen is easy on my eyes. Other times, audiobooks during chores are nice too, speed around 1.10 to 1.25.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Just a little faster on audio... I think I could handle that if I ever need to. I didn't know that it was that granular, so thanks for the info.!
