Play Book Tag discussion

This is a very short, warm story telling of first love and what the characters go through when village gossip threatens to divide them. Originally written in 1954, this book is different from a lot of Japanese literature that I have read recently, due to the eventual happy ending. This book deals a lot with the issues that can arise when the man, a poor fisherman, falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy man. I liked the introduction of a couple of rivals, and some of the women being divers reminded me of The Island of Sea Women, which covers some similar plot points albeit in Korea.
