Rachel | 280 comments I love everything I've read by Kim Heacox and I've been meaning to read this for awhile so why not read it together! Blurb about the book from Barnes & Noble: "Winner of the 2020 National Outdoor Book Award for Outdoor Classic! In this coming-of-middle-age memoir, Kim Heacox, writing in the tradition of Abbey, McPhee, and Thoreau, discovers an Alaska reborn from beneath a massive glacier, where flowers emerge from boulders, moose swim fjords, and bears cross crevasses with Homeric resolve. In such a place Heacox finds that people are reborn too, and their lives begin anew with incredible journeys, epiphanies, and successes. "

Rachel | 280 comments I feel a strange kind of kinship with Kim Heacox. His writing is beautiful and has a way of putting into words all the emotions and feelings rattling in my brain and heart in a way I can never clearly do. This book is thoughtful, made my heart hurt, made me happy, cherishes relationships and connection of all kinds, pays honor to bears and trees. It's a beautiful book and y'all go read it and then go read everything else by him. Thank you for writing this book.
