Cheryl (cherylllr) Hi y'all!

Obviously I'm doing a poor job of keeping to a schedule here. I'm also having trouble coming up with questions that interest you. So starting today I'll just post a new one whenever I feel like it, possibly every 2-3 weeks or so.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Lovely Lizz says: "I am curious what time travel authors people first read that got them into the genre."

I wonder, too! So, what was your gateway story?

Cheryl (cherylllr) I think in my case it might have been Replay.

I'd been reading SF for decades, and enjoying the TT stories especially, but when I read that particular popular book I realized that I wanted to actually look specifically for stories that featured TT, with all its *What If* explorations.

And then I joined goodreads, and then I found this group, and I'm still enjoying them!

I've been reading time travel stories since as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I loved the Choose Your Own Adventure series which sometimes had a time travel element. I also read a lot of historical fiction. My favorites were books that tied the past to the present in a meaningful way, like Paperquake and Holes. I also loved Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

Lizz Taylor | 218 comments I remember reading HG Wells The Time Machine at an early age and being so intrigued by the concept of time travel. I also vaguely recall loving A Wrinkle in Time which may have been time travel related.

Jaime Batista | 48 comments for me it was The Time Machine. Saw the movie as just a child and read the book many times over the coming years.

Heather(Gibby) (heather-gibby) | 469 comments I think the one that got me hooked was Outlander. I liked how Clare used her knowledge of the future to solve problems. Next one was probably The time travellers Wife
