Rachel Page | 2 comments I know we are only partway through this month's Group Read, but I thought it might be a good idea to work out what book we are all going to be reading next month now. That way everyone has a little bit longer to find a copy before we start.

Any suggestions?

Tom | 11 comments How about Schindler's List or The Picture of Dorian Gray (I am just being lazy and nominate the books I already own and want to read). i am open for everything though.

message 3: by John (new)

John | 1 comments Maybe the Buried Giant by Ishiguro, seeing as it's new and topical and stuff.

message 4: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (wtayjay) | 4 comments Also being lazy and recommending books I own… How about Stiff by Mary Roach or John Dies at the End?

message 5: by Zara (new)

Zara Novak | 16 comments Maybe something short and sweet. Not many people have joined in with Metro and it is a bit of a monster at 700 pages.

Suggest Pratchett for obvious reasons.

message 6: by Pat (new)

Pat W (beekeasy) I'm going to second Prachette. I've never read any of his stuff but I've heard a a million great things about him. I was planning on giving him a shot anyway soon due to his passing. I'd be happy reading his best book, whatever people think that is, to get a taste of Prachette and see if I should continue his library.

Hailey (jp13hm) | 13 comments A friend handed me "the girl on the train" which seems to be gaining in popularity. I haven't started it but it looks short.

Desdichado (d_esdichado) | 2 comments I was going to read Contact by Carl Sagan so I nominate that, but I'm pretty open so i'll read any book.

message 9: by Pat (new)

Pat W (beekeasy) Does anyone want to The Color of Magic or Guards! Guards!? I've never read anything by Terry Pratchett and given the fact that he just passed and everyone and their mother seems to like the guy I figure I ought to check it out.

He's most known for his Discworld series which sounds like a fantasy Douglas Adams with dry, absurd British humor. The Color of Magic is the first in the Discworld series which is a fine enough place to start. But my Pratchett fan friends say he really didn't get into the groove of writing until a few books in. They all think Guards! Guards! is his best work.

Any thoughts?

I just bought The Color of Magic, I'd love this to be the next group read.

Taylor (wtayjay) | 4 comments I also have The Color of Magic. I'm in.

message 12: by Shantel (new)

Shantel I could be up to reading Terry Pratchett's The Color of Magic.

Kirby (kirbym) | 4 comments Hey - I'm new. I hope you don't mind I inquire about this. Did you guys decide on The Color of Magic? How does this work / when does this start?
