Hi, this is the discussion topic for week 1's progress with our August book, You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight.

This topic can include spoilers up to the end of chapter 4, so only continue reading this post if you have read up to this point.

I'm enjoying how this one is unfolding so far and loving the horror references. I'm so intrigued about the direction it's going to go in!

❓ What do you think of the horror references?
❓ What are your thoughts on the pacing?
❓ Do you have a favourite or least favourite character so far?

I will open up the next topic in a week for us to talk (with spoilers) about up to page p113/the end of chapter 8.

Kim | 12 comments I like it so far and the atmopshere is really creepy. I like Charity and Sheriff Lillard is incredibly unlikeable. As the old woman who gives me the creeps!
I'm curious to know what the owner of the camp is up to!

Katie (readersroost) | 1 comments enjoying so far. steady pace but building the atmosphere nicely. when I first started I thought well that's it they are already gone, it fooled me. looking forward to see how this unfolds

I'mogén (peacecookiesbooks) | 19 comments I like how fast paced this is, but without feeling rushed or skimping on the detail.
I'm enjoying the horror references and wondering if they're more of an Easter egg for scenario's to come.
I love the whole plot being set at a horror camp simulation - it sounds like a lot of fun, but I'm ngl, I don't think I'd do one like this! I enjoy the old horror maze but this simulation sounds terrifying haha

The beginning of this one did leave me really curious! I loved the atmosphere and trying to figure out who I could trust.

The beginning was so good! I love a slasher fake out. The atmosphere of the camp is one of my favourite things about the book.

Agreed! I love horror experiences but full contact is a no from me :-) The horror references are really fun.
