Peter Swanson has always been a solid writer and this book is no different. Overall, it was an enjoyable book and I am looking forward to the second book although I’m a little curious as to where it will lead to. There were a lot of twists and turns in the book that weren’t over dramatic and there were some you did see coming but it didn’t cheapen the enjoyment of the book at all.

Another thing that would typically turn me away from a book would be that it’s unbelievability. Just the amount of coincidences that occur in some books is so insane, and I have to say there are times in this book that I thought to myself that there’s no way that this could happen out of chance. The further on you read though, the more you learn that it wasn’t all by coincidence which adds to the layers of this book.

(view spoiler)a plot twist I was not expecting at all. However, I do feel like from there on out the rest of the flow of the book shifted to a much slower pace with an uncertain ending. It did pick up again (view spoiler), but everything in between lacked a point other than to connect the two timelines and therefore could’ve been shortened a bit.

I also didn’t enjoy that parts of the story were retold through different perspectives. If it was two sentences of overlap to clarify that something happened right after the other, that would be fine but it was a few pages at some times and it was almost word for word the same with no new information.
