Have you seen the movie? Does the film follow the novel? Were the characters as you imagined in your mind's eye?

I haven't seen the movie, but maybe more importantly, I have looked up Gogol and the short story The Overcoat. They lend meaning to this story. Check Gogol out at wikipedia and it will link you to the short story.
