Rules
🧛Each monster has specific chains that need to be completed.
Examples:
1. Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively (ABC)
-All the Light We Cannot See
-Becoming Mrs. Lewis
-Catching Fire
2. Create a chain of 3 with "dog" in the titles
-Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike
-The Dog Stars
-Hot Dog Girl
🧛One person should NOT complete a whole chain by themselves. This is a team challenge. However, if a monster has multiple chains and a slower reader can only/want to only read for 1 or 2 chains (they must read at least one), then the other two faster readers on the team can complete the other chains between the two of them.
🧛You may choose which creature to capture first but you MUST complete it BEFORE starting a new creature.
🧛You may use or drop articles: A, An, The
🧛If you somehow manage to incorporate a Formal Buddy Read book into a chain, you will earn 2 bonus points. See the buddy read folder for the current book. They are also listed in the spreadsheet dropdown list (when your team has a thread & spreadsheet assigned to them).
🧛Books should be a minimum of 140 pages
🧛Reading the monthly Group Read book for a task will earn you 2 bonus points.

Scoring
You will get 3 points for every completed book (9 per completed chain) PLUS page points.

Hi Roger, I like that name.

I have PMd your missing teammate (who I think changed their GR name - process of elimination gives me Bee).

Vampires are undead creatures that survive by drinking blood. Some folklore says that they can be warded off with things like garlic, mustard seeds, crucifixes, rosaries, or holy water. They also claim that vampires cannot walk on consecrated ground or in sunlight. They must be invited into your home before they can come and go as they please. Killing a vampire is usually done by staking them with wood, preferably Ash, or by decapitation.

To capture the vampire, complete the following tasks

Arm 1: Create a chain of 3 using titles or series with the word "vampire"
Arm 2: Create a chain of 3 using books with all the letters 'ASH' in the title (any order)
Leg 1 Create a chain of 3 books with a cross or crucifix on the cover OR in the title
Leg 2 Create a chain of 3 books with a red cover (minimum 50%)

I'll start with Arm 1 - The Blood of the Vampire. ETA-Unless you all want to do the informal buddy read right off the bat (no pun intended.). I'm up for whatever.

Ever heard the saying "Ask and you shall receive"? Well, I had a question about Buddy Reads earlier. After some thought and some consultation with other mods, I have decided to give you the same bonus points for an informal buddy read as the TCF Group Read. Here are the rules:

*Your buddy must be on your team
*You may do a buddy read of 2 or 3 (as you have teams of 3)
*The book must fit one of your tasks, of course

To sign up for an informal buddy read click Here and a thread will be set up for you. This option will be added to the Group Read bonus dropdown in your spreadsheets shortly.

For some reason, my last message didn't post. I am nearly done with my vampire book - Mosaics and Magic - book 14 of the Vampire knitting club series. I should be done later today.

I have finished my vampire book and have lined up for book with red cover next - just need to finished a current read for another challenge

Team, I am going to replace Roger. He never responded to me. Also, I am going to accept the word CROSS or CRUCIFIX in the title because that cross task seems to tripping some people up. Plurals accepted.

I finished my book for red cover and will post it shortly now to find a book for ash or cross

So I never heard back from the first backup but I have another one so I reached out to her. No worries, though. Worst case scenario, you get me. You will get someone on this team.

I finished The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein today. Great book, five stars, highly recommend. I'll update the sheet.

I wanted to add an apology for being so 'quiet.' Work's been a bear, but I'm reading right along. Now that things are calming down, I'll check in more frequently.

Hey all, I'm here! I did this challenge last year so am kinda familiar. Looks like we're working on vampire? Donna, can I use any books that fit from the 1st onward just so I don't hold us up?

Welcome Amanda I finished my read book and need to update the spreadsheet then get started on my ash book. It’s been a busy week this week hoping next week will be a little better for reading

I was able to slot in one, the others will take a bit more planning, but I've found something for most of them! The cross/crucifex is going to take me a while to find since I'm mostly a romance reader and not a religious one but will look!

Despite being in last place due to losing 2 of the original team players, I am impressed with the 20-point gains this week. You are really not that far behind the team above you and they didn't lose any players.

Reminder: Everyone should read at least one task per monster. Nobody should read a whole chain by themselves. This is rule #1.

This is a little different than last year where each person had to do one task for each limb. I've finished one for each limb, what else do we need?

Looks like we need one more book with a cross or a crucifix, then we can claim the Vampire.

Marty, we might have a cursed team! Very halloween lol. I have like 6 books planned for other challenges but after that I can find another cross book, it just might not be super long

Nikki is still around. I talked to her. Don't worry, your team is not cursed.

She was looking for a cross book and I know people are struggling with that task. I did recently open up that task a bit so I directed her to check out the Q&A if she needs help.
