The One question

There's bits and pieces of lots of things. There's something about Amberly during her selection and then Marlee's pov while she dating Carter. There's a short pov from Celeste that covers key parts from the original series and then theres a quick chapter that occurs a year after Maxerica's wedding. A lot of the book provides different povs from the original series, but there are some stories from before/after the series. You can also read some before the sequel series and some after. You won't be missing anything if you read the Crown first, but Happily Ever After does add some context to the original series and it was just a nice read.
