When Kate and Curran decide to accept the arbitration challenge and Kate refers to a favor Saiman owes her, were you aware of what she meant? Did you feel you missed something by not having this episode included in the story?

Laura (Kyahgirl) (kyahgirl) I had read a couple of short stories with saiman so didn't really feel out of the loop.

Erin (erin36) | 113 comments It's so common for me to forget book details that I just assumed I had forgotten this one as well :).

They had the scene included at the end of my audiobook and, like you, Erin, I assumed I'd just forgotten it:) I listened to about 15 minutes to get the gist of it and agreed with the author's assessment that it would have just stuck out oddly. Maybe they should make it a free novella (it was about an hour of listening).

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments It didn't bother me at all and I didn't feel that I was missing any information. It is made clear in earlier installments that Kate had helped Saiman out of a sticky situation so it was just a natural progression to his owing her a favor.

I never listen to the extra stuff at the end of audiobooks. Lol! Apparently I have the same aversion to shorts and novellas in audio format as I do in book format.

It's a crap shoot for me as to whether I do or not. Curiosity got the better of me:)

I used to be that way then found in the Patricia Briggs series, as well as Jane Yellowrock and Liaden Universe, the short stories add a huge amount to the story line. But still, I have to force myself to go after the short stories because of that same weird aversion that is my first reaction. :-)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I usually skip the short stories and I get really annoyed when authors put a big plot point in them. Not everyone has access to them or can afford to fork out cash for an anthology just to read the one novella that interests them.
