William (be2lieve) | 1484 comments Members, for some unknown reason Goodreads only allows me to invite 10K members to vote on the monthly book poll. Our group has grown to over 10,800 members. Meaning that over 800 of you with names at the end of the alphabet aren't getting notifications that a new poll has been created.
Starting next month I'll no longer send out invitations. I'll send out one broadcast message to all members at the polls creation and another when there are 3 days left to vote.
Thanks.

Mandy (mandysouthgate) | 19 comments Hi William, absolutely understand your hesitation to send out to some and leave out others. However, based on a group I used to be a part of, engagement plummets once those emails stop going out. I'm wondering what other people think but wonder if there isn't a way to keep notifying people? I'm not sure how it works but I think another admin sends out two notifications to two groups each month by sorting or filtering them

I will reach out to the administrators to see if they have a solution.

spoko (spokospoko) What is an invitation, that differentiates it from a broadcast message? In the group where I admin, we send out broadcasts about the polls (with a link), and it drives engagement in a massive way. I’m not sure what’s different about an invitation, or whether that distinction would make much difference.

At the bottom of every poll is an "invite friends" link. Perhaps only the creator of it can see it. This allows you to message up to 1k members at a time or just individuals you want to invite one at a time. A broadcast message goes out to every member once at the same time. That is the difference.
