Anita Childress is reporting on the ressurected investigation of the Route 99 serial killer. Tracy was surprised because she thought she’d moved to Escondido to be with her mother, Lisa. What was your reaction to the status of their relationship? Was it predictable that they would struggle to connect given Lisa’s amnesia or did you have higher expectations?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments It makes sense that Lisa and her daughter would have trouble connecting after all of these years. Lisa has no memory of Anita. She just knows what people have told her. I think they would have to really work to build a relationship. I'm not sure Lisa wants to do that work.

I agree, Robin. She was much more committed to her job than raising a child before she lost her memory so I shouldn’t have been surprised. But, I kind of was. Poor Anita.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I was not surprised that mother and daughter had an almost impossible task to try to build up a new relationship in these circumstances.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree with you. Anita has all the bad memories of her mother, and her mother doesn't have any memories of the past. They are too far apart to mend bridges at this stage.

I thought it was more of Lisa being disconnected. Anita was a toddler when Lisa disappeared and had no memory of her.

You are probably right, but I was thinking that she must have felt some level of abandonment. That isn't easy to get over when you can't talk about it.
