It is so hard to say what Hello Beautiful is about. One could describe it as a contemporary Little Women with the four Padavano sisters serving as the little women. One could also say that it is a story about a family or a story about love or a kind of generational saga. None of these would be quite accurate.

It is a beautifully written story, a stay up at night and read story, a crying buckets story.

I really loved it and highly recommend it.

I’m so glad you loved it too. I think it will be on my top ten this year. I can tell the characters will stay with me for a long time. I liked the way she handled the lifelong depression of a male character. It was realistic but different from the standard way men’s issues are covered in fiction. The Little Women references are very subtle (thankfully), but I liked that each girl would claim to be be Beth only when she was sick and needed comforting. I have to ask since I've considered reading this one - is there graphically described sex in this one? I hesitate to read contemporary fiction due my particular sensitivity (it's a personal issue for me).
