Austenesque Lovers TBR Challenge 2023 discussion

If you are willing to place one of your November reading choices in the hands of another person, leave a comment here with at least five books and no more than ten from your TBR shelf. Participants need to leave comments no later than Oct 25th.

Here's how it will work:
Sophia will match people up and leave a comment with a list of who will choose for whom.
When you see the person you are to pick for, then just look at their list in the above comments and leave a new comment with their name and the book you chose for them by October 31st.

You also need to watch and see what book your person chose from your list for you.
You have the rest of the month to read the book.

I haven't read any of your choices but Field of Dreams: A Pride and Prejudice Variation has been near the top of my TBR for quite some time so I'll pick that and look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Oh wow, it looks like she took the ebook edition off Amazon and the paperback is out of print. That's where I bought it. I checked Kobo and B&N and they don't carry the ebook, either. I checked the used book sites and the paperback is unavailable. Maybe one of the library systems have a copy.

Field of Dreams: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by J. Dawn King

I'm glad you enjoyed it writer. I think I might audio it this month.

I know it’s only 2nd November but I’ve finished my pick already! Actually, I started it a couple of days before the end of October. It was Game of Kings by Anthea Carson.

It's a modern re-telling set in the USA and Russia. The Darcy and Elizabeth characters (not their character names, btw) are a couple of chess players (“Darcy” is a Russian grandmaster and “Elizabeth” is an American much lower-ranked player). To be honest, if it didn't mention P&P on the cover, I may not have realised the connection. It was OK, I guess, and have given it ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I have started Peacocks of Pemberley on audiobook and so far it's great.

Listened to Peacocks of Pemberley, it is a wonderful audiobook and an enjoyable story.

Wow, that was a surprise! I had to adjust my expectations. Respect & Respectability was well written and an interesting sequel to Mansfield Park, but it was a deeply religious story so might not be for everyone's taste.

It's out of print and off Amazon at the moment so I'm glad I had been gifted a copy a few years back so I could read it. Thanks, Patricia!

Sorry for posting so late. I finished Out of Obscurity sometime ago and enjoyed it, though I feel the romance could've been better. Thanks for the recommendation.
