Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments This month we will be reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

This book was nominated by D.L. for our monthly theme Original.

Narnia… the land beyond the wardrobe door, a secret place frozen in eternal winter, a magical country waiting to be set free.

Lucy is the first to find the secret of the wardrobe in the professor's mysterious old house. At first her brothers and sister don't believe her when she tells of her visit to the land of Narnia. But soon Edmund, then Peter and Susan step through the wardrobe themselves. In Narnia they find a country buried under the evil enchantment of the White Witch. When they meet the Lion Aslan, they realize they've been called to a great adventure and bravely join the battle to free Narnia from the Witch's sinister spell.

Valerie Reyes | 1146 comments I last read this book 50 years ago (although I’ve seen several screen adaptations since then). It will be interesting to see how it holds up. It was my first real foray into books about fantasy worlds and I’ve been hooked ever since.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I read this as a child and loved it. I read it again a few years ago when I decided to re-read the entire Narnia series and thought it still held up as the best of the Narnia books.

Beth | 1553 comments I read this to my kids when they were little (25+ years ago), and I enjoyed it.

This summer I read the entire Narnia series. This book is by far the best of the seven. While I own a boxed set of the books (from the days of my kids’ youth), I listened to a set of audiobooks that featured various prestigious British actors (Lynn Redgrave, Michael York, Derek Jacobi, to name a few) each reading one of the books.

Sheila Knotts | 359 comments I just reread these favorites last year, but I will join in for a group read . Looking forward to others’comments.

Lina | 823 comments I will also be joining in! I think I have only watched the movies so far, so am very much looking forward to finally reading the book!

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments This was one of my favorite series growing up. However, since I just re-read this during the family readathon, I won't be reading it again, but I could join the discussion for it.

Looking forward to seeing other people's opinions of it :)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I've just started this today and will probably be finished before November 🤦‍♀️ I had nothing else to read haha! Loving it so far! I've seen the movie but never read the book!

D.L. | 1515 comments It's been a crazy past 2 months, but since I nominated the book, I'll be joining in the discussion. Just not probably until mid-month :)
