It's time for our group's first ever Team Challenge!

description

description
April 5,2015 - June 27, 2015
The challenge will go on for twelve weeks. Each round will last for twelve days.
The team with most points at the end of these 12 weeks will be declared the winner!

description
❖ Sign-ups will be closed by April 2,2015. You can sign-up for the challenge HERE .

❖ PMs will be sent to the participants after the sign-ups are closed and the teams have been formed. The participants will have to respond within 48 hours of the invitation mail in their respective team thread.

❖ Each team will be assigned a captain. It will be preferable if you become friends with your respective captains. The team captains will be responsible for checking if the members have posted their books correctly and for submitting their team's scores at the end of every round.

❖ Each team will have their own thread wherein the members can strategise, keep track of their individual progress, or simply chat.

description
❖ Every two weeks a certain number of categories will be disclosed by the Mods. The participants are to read books matching those categories. The number of books read by an individual will determine his points. You can read for as many categories as you can.

❖ The team with the highest points at the end of a round will also get the chance to choose some of the categories for the next round.

Bonus Points: A bonus of 5 points will be rewarded for participating in a buddy read with another team member or any other LTLS member for this challenge. You can use the Buddy Read folder of our group for that purpose.

Extra Credit: For the categories other than Trope and Genre, if your selected book has ROMANCE listed on the main page genre then you get an extra point.

M.J. Schiller (mjschiller) | 38 comments This sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I had time to read more and would be an asset to a team, but I'm SLOW. Good luck to all involved!

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
If you manage to read at least one book per round then you can also be quite an asset, M.J.

M.J. Schiller (mjschiller) | 38 comments I could try--but I have a book coming out and my triplets are graduating from high school, so I know things are gonna get crazy here. (We're trying to make a bunch of home improvements before the party.) I just don't want to take a spot that someone else who could really pour it on could fill.I will follow from the sidelines, though, because it really does sound like a lot of fun!

Okay. That really is a lot of work and stress. I hope everything goes well and fine for you.

M.J. Schiller (mjschiller) | 38 comments Thank you! The real stress begins when both my mom and stepmom show up a couple of days before to "help" me! ;)

Sorry Ruchi..This won't work..It is more of a Black cover.. :(

Tania Filthy beautiful forever-can this book count as friends to lovers?
The MC's were together till 15.15 years later, the girl shows up at his doorstep
So,this counts right?

message 15: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
Yep, it'll count, Tania.

Tania Thanks:D

Poongothai (poongsa) | 190 comments Does this count as red cover Black Ties and Lullabies by Jane Graves ?

message 18: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
I'd say yes. Red is the most prominent colour in there.

message 19: by Julia (new)

Julia (julia_landerss) | 27 comments I was just wondering what's a good way to find a book that fits the trope we're looking for? I seem to be having so much trouble with that one.

message 20: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
There are a few lists on GR:
Friends to Lovers
Friends To Lovers

message 21: by M.J. (new)

M.J. Schiller (mjschiller) | 38 comments Wow! I didn't realize those kinds of lists existed! Thanks for sharing, Ipshita! I was able to add my own book, ABANDON ALL HOPE as it is a friends to lovers.

Tania Hey,I forgot to ask-stupid mistake that-but,does this cover Sempre (Forever, #1) by J.M. Darhower fit the bill for the first clue?a red cover?

message 24: by Julia (new)

Julia (julia_landerss) | 27 comments Feel like I'm asking a lot of questions, but didn't know if you prefer us to submit each book individually each time we finish one or post all of them near the end?

Tania21kml wrote: "Hey,I forgot to ask-stupid mistake that-but,does this coverSempre (Forever, #1) by J.M. Darhower fit the bill for the first clue?a red cover?"

Sorry, but it has got more white than red.

message 26: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
You can post all of them at once near the end of each round, Julia.

message 27: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (alexandra14) | 1146 comments For the Red Cover, does this book Sisters Red (Fairytale Retellings, #1) by Jackson Pearce works?

message 28: by Tania (new)

Tania So,I have this book Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley Rock Chick.
This one fits the bill for two categories.the friends to lovers and authors with initial A.
My question is,if I read this book,do I get points for two categories or just one of them?

message 29: by A (new)

A H | 1322 comments Mod
Hi. I recently read the book Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier . I was wondering whether this is valid for the category HR? The book is more of a classic but it a love story and it is historical. So, is the book valid?

message 30: by Shilpa (new)

Shilpa | 842 comments @Andrea: Yes..it does!

@Tania: You get points for only one of the categories..you are free too choose where you want to put it in.. :)

@Ruchi: If book is listed as Historical and Romance on the main page..then yes..Else NO.. :)

message 31: by Shilpa (new)

Shilpa | 842 comments @Ruchi: Or atleast ot has to be evident from the blurb.. :)

message 32: by Purvika (new)

Purvika (violetstygian) | 166 comments Can you explain to me...why the points are like this :

In example... You have given points..

For first R title 2+3 but for second R title 2+1

Can you explain the '+' connection ? I need to post my books

message 33: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
2+3 is the cumulative points for the R title, i.e. 2 pts for the first book and 3 for the second.

2+1 is the total for the 2nd book, 2pts for the title 1pt bonus because the book belongs to the romance genre.

message 34: by Purvika (new)

Purvika (violetstygian) | 166 comments Aaaah....ok ok ... So if we read three books in one category then how will first and second book score... As third will be 2+1 if its in romance genre.

message 35: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
If your first book is non-romance it'll be 2pts, 2nd book(romance) will have 3 pts, third book(romance) will be 3 pts, so 8pts in total.

message 36: by Purvika (new)

Purvika (violetstygian) | 166 comments So 5 points will only be for first book if it falls under romance Genre ?

message 37: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
The bonus of 1 pt is for any category other than trope or genre. You'll get a total of 5pts if you're reading a book for the category: Genre. If you read 2 books that matches the genre you'll score 5+5, i.e. 10 points.

Extra Credit: For the categories other than Trope and Genre, if your selected book has ROMANCE listed on the main page genre then you get an extra point.

But in your sample post, the categories trope and genre too have been given extra credit. I think maybe you should keep it that way. Because I guess the groups have already submitted their books.

message 39: by Purvika (new)

Purvika (violetstygian) | 166 comments But after getting explanation I removed one point from Genre. Hmmm what effect one point can make...maybe it will be clear from next round.

But look at the sample post...and anyway, you haven't read anything from trope and one book from genre...add it up maybe? :)
Sadly, for us, and Team 1, those 1 pts mean a lot :)

I am so sorry about the trope example, it's an honest mistake on my part. The points were mostly decided by Shilpa, so I must have made a mistake with it.

Anyway to be clear, Bonus of 1 point for every category other than trope an genre, if the book is a romance novel.

Sorry for the confusion.

message 44: by Ipshita (new)

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 4744 comments Mod
That's mostly because you can be sure that the trope and genre will always be romance related.

It is mainly YA. But a very small portion of it is romance.

Sorry, but romance has to be listed on the main page genre for it to count.
