For what author(s) will you read anything they publish?

Dubhease | 1150 comments Ruth Ware, Riley Sager. Lucy Foley. Mona Awad, Grady Hendrix

message 4: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2083 comments Seanan McGuire and Ilona Andrews are the only 2 I can say I would read ANYTHING that they wrote. I have other authors that I follow, but if they put out a book with a plot synopsis that I thought sounded bad, I'd skip it.

message 9: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3307 comments Kate Morton

message 11: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 1730 comments I second Tad Williams, and I may add Tanya Huff. I used to read everything Anne McCaffrey, but she is no longer with us to publish more books.

message 14: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (djinnia) | 657 comments Diana Palmer, Kouko Shirakawa

message 15: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (ahhhhmanda) | 167 comments Mona Awad is probably my only auto-buy author. I'll read anything she publishes. I don't even need to know what it's about, I'll buy it.

There are other authors who I would read most of what they publish. People like Grady Hendrix, Brandon Sanderson, Seanan McGuire, TJ Klune, and Nghi Vo.

message 16: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 2974 comments I'd say my go-to authors are:
Barbara Kingsolver
Amor Towles
Fredrik Backman
Abraham Verghese
Neal Shusterman
J. Ryan Stradal and
Erin Morgenstern.

A few that may become go-to authors for me, once I have a bit more experience with them, are:
Becky Chambers
Laurie Frankel
R.F. Kuang
Ruth Ozeki
Richard Powers and
Blake Crouch

Denise | 523 comments Nonfiction:
Joan Didion (RIP)
Christopher Hitchens (RIP)
Bill Bryson

Fiction:
Elizabeth Strout
Lisa See
Jumpa Lahiri

Classics:
Jane Austen
Louisa May Alcott

message 20: by Marie (new)

Marie | 1060 comments I only really have two that I'll read anything they write - Terry Pratchett and V.E. Schwab.

I've got a few go to series, but they're by authors whose other books I'm not so interested in.

message 21: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan J | 9 comments K.J. Charles is my most major one. The only auto-buy author I have anymore, tbh.

I also have big soft spots for Cat Sebastian, Talia Hibbert, Alessandra Hazard and Garrett Leigh. They're not quite auto-buys, but I generally like them enough that I'm willing to give most things they write a go.

message 22: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyneedsbooks) | 393 comments Tana French is mine, though I wasn't crazy about the most recent one The Searcher, and it looks like her next one out next year The Hunter is a sequel to it, so my expectations are tempered.

Until recently Emily Henry was also in this category (I don't consider myself a romance reader, but I liked the publishing/writer humor), but I couldn't finish the most recent one Happy Place, probably due to reliance on too many romance tropes which I don't enjoy. I'll check out her next one, but it's no longer an auto-read for me unless the blurb looks interesting.

I wish I had more auto-buy authors. I guess I tend to read more widely, but less deeply.

Dixie (dixietenny) | 1081 comments Connie Willis, Jasper Fforde, Carlo Rovelli

Shannon SA (shannonsa) | 672 comments I second Bill Bryson. Such a pity he has 'retired'!
