Jumpstart January:
* started in 2022
Kick off the year with books already on your TBR! If you've never read it and you owned it (or had it on your TBR) prior to January 1, 2024, it counts for this challenge.
Fluffy February:
* started in 2023
February is all about the fluff and feel-good moments, so read some lighthearted reads: romance, humor, and all the comfy and cozy vibes!
March on the Margins:
* new prompt
March is all about celebrating diverse voices through reading books written by authors from marginalized groups. This includes BIPOC authors, queer authors, disabled authors, plus-sized authors, and authors who have mental illnesses.
April Antiquities:
* new prompt
April Antiquities is about reading books with a historical setting — whether it takes place in a historical fantasy world, ancient Rome, or 1985.
Mysterious May:
* new prompt
Mysterious May is an easy one: it's all about reading mysteries and thrillers! (Cozy mysteries count too, and so do books from other genres that happen to feature a mystery as part of the plot)
Pride Parade June:
* started in 2022
This month is all about reading queer rep and queer voices!
Sci-fi July:
* theme from 2019-2021
This theme has actually been requested to be brought back a few times: a month dedicated to science fiction and dystopia!
ARC August:
* theme from 2019-2021
This is an old favorite I thought would be fun to bring back: ARC August is all about reading review copies! Whether they're already released or hot upcoming ARCs, they count. (If you don't read review copies, you can pick any 2024 releases for this month's theme!)
Sword & Shield September:
* started in 2023
Get your swords ready, friends: September is all about fantasy books! From the epic high fantasy journeys all the way to the chill paranormal romance novellas, if it’s fantasy, it counts.
Ominous October:
* started in 2022
It’s spooky season, and it’s time to bust out the spooky reads! This month is all about horror, mystery/thrillers, and dark fantasy.
Remember November:
* started in 2019
Remember November is all about reading books you didn't get to from your previous 2024 TBRs. This might be something you had on a readathon TBR earlier in the year, or a book you were so excited to purchase but then it sat collecting dust on your shelf.
December Delights:
* new prompt
This is my favorite of the new themes! December Delights is all about reading new and new-to-you books from authors you already love so we can (hopefully) end the year on a stack of 5-star reads!
