I spend the whole month of December watching Hallmark Christmas Movies. This is my favorite time of the year and one of my favorite things to do. They are so sappy and predictable but they are just so feel good.
Read a book with MPG Romance or a Christmas book that was turned into a movie.

1.8 (Mickslibrarian 's Task) December Birthstones
Choose one option below:

a. Turquoise - There was once a belief that the gem would break into multiple pieces when disaster was imminent. Read a book told from multiple perspectives - specify what the perspectives are, or a book about some sort of disaster - specify what the disaster is.

b. Tanzanite - With a Mohs Hardness rating of 6 to 7, tanzanite is best in earrings and pendants and not recommended for rings. Read a book with earrings or a necklace on the cover. BONUS: If the cover features both earrings AND a necklace. A ring may NOT appear on the cover.

c. Zircon - Zircon is found in central Sri Lanka, Australia, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Read a book set in one of these places.

2.4 (Mickslibrarian's Task) December Birth Flowers
Pick One PAIR below and read one book for each part of the pair

Pair 1: Cover
1A: Hollies are dark green with red, white, yellow, black, or pink berries, and are an important source of food and shelter for birds - read a book that is 75%+ green and 25%- red, white, yellow, black or pink - no other significant colors (excluding title and author). Bonus if there is also a bird on the cover (bird colors do not count).
1B: Narcissus are white flowers that can grow inside during the dark days of winter. Read a book with a black cover 75%+ and white 25%- no other significant colors (excluding title and author). Bonus if there is also a flower on the cover (flower colors do not count).

Pair 2: Author and Title (pick the title option for one book and the author option for the other book)
2A: The Latin name for hollies is Ilex aquifolium, which means "with pointed leaves". Author option - read a book whose author's first initial can be found in ILEX and whose last inital can be found in AQUIFOLIUM. Title option - read a book whose title starts with a pointy letter - A, M, N, V, W, or Z.
2B: Narcissus is also known as paperwhite. Author option - read a book whose author's first initial can be found in PAPER and whose last initial can be found in WHITE. Title option - read a book whose title starts with a letter in NARCISSUS.

Pair 3: Setting
3A: Hollies are native to North America - read a book set in North America (specify where)
3B: In Victorian times, the gift of a narcissus meant you were “the only one.” Read a book set in Victorian times (1837-1901).

Pair 4: Content
4A: Holly wood was used for centuries as firewood, and the berries, while food for birds, is poisonous to humans and many other animals. Read a book where someone has a fire burning inside (give sentence and page number), or where the story involves some kind of poison (give sentence and page number).
4B: A bouquet of paperwhites is a way to express pure or unconditional love. Read a romance book.

3.1 (Tessa's Task) Seems to be a season of bells for me ... One of my favorite Christmas songs is Silver Bells.

This weekend we'll be hearing wedding bells for our niece's big day. While in Texas, we're spending a few days in Hill Country just relaxing before the big event, and from our rental house we can hear the bells from Saint Mary's Church the next block over. And last night we caught a showing of the classic Bing Crosby movie - "The Bells of St Mary's"

1. Read a book whose title begins will a letter in SILVER (Ignore leading articles: A, An, The)

2. My niece and her groom both have first names that begin with 'A." Their full initials will be different, though because she is keeping her maiden name. Read a book by an author whose FIRST initial is 'A' /or/ whose LAST initial is either C or E.

3. Read a book set in Texas.
