Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1227 comments So either I'm super ambitious or super crazy. Either way my bookcase is literally crashing under the weight of the five million books I have. So we have to make a dent. My first list was just BOTM books, and if i can get those off I'm making some progress. This second list is overflow BOTM books (yes my obsession needed more than one list) and other books weighing my bookcase down. A few are ones I didn't tackle last year in this challenge, but mostly new books I think I can knock off the bookcase. The more I get off my shelves the more books I can buy. Hehe! So here we go!

My 12:
✔️1. Yours Truly - 8/2
2. Carrie Soto Is Back
3. Beach Read
4. Watching You
5. Wings of the Wind
✔️6. Never Never - 12/6
✔️7. The Mystery Guest - 8/17
✔️8. Ordinary Grace - 8/6
✔️9. A Little Hope - 1/7
✔️10. First Lie Wins - 2/1
11. Weyward
✔️12. Warrior Girl Unearthed - 1/13

Plus 4:
1. Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice from Dear Sugar
✔️2. Nine Perfect Strangers - 9/16
3. Summer of '69
✔️4. The Rules of Magic - 1/22

Yours Truly (Part of Your World, #2) by Abby Jimenez Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid Beach Read by Emily Henry Watching You by Lisa Jewell Wings of the Wind (Out From Egypt, #3) by Connilyn Cossette Never Never by Colleen Hoover The Mystery Guest (Molly the Maid, #2) by Nita Prose Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger A Little Hope by Ethan Joella First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston Weyward by Emilia Hart Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty Tiny Beautiful Things Advice from Dear Sugar by Cheryl Strayed Summer of '69 by Elin Hilderbrand The Rules of Magic (Practical Magic, #0.2) by Alice Hoffman

It's both dear, both. I know because I am too..... lol
This is another great list!

message 3: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2122 comments I have a few on my overflowing TBR too, but I've only read Ordinary Grace, which was very good. There's always the debate about which one was better, Ordinary Grace or This Tender Land, have you read that one? Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this, and the other books on this list. Happy reading!

All new books for me. I hope you enjoy 'cleaning' off your bookshelves.

Lea (leaspot) | 3629 comments What a great list! I really liked Carrie Soto Is Back and I enjoyed Beach Read too, and thought it was much better than People We Meet on Vacation but not as good as Book Lovers. I haven't read Happy Place yet, I keep trying to squeeze it in! :-)

Carrie Soto is in my to-read pile. I only read The Seven Husbands this year, so Daisy Jones will probably be on my 2024 challenge. I'm still deciding on my books for it though

I have Warrior Girl Unearthed on a list for this year as well. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it and all of the books. Good luck!

Thanks Lillie! 😊 I think I'm crazy with 3 lists 😅 But hopefully this will knock out some of my huge tbr list. I love seeing the bookcovers, and it makes it super easy to pick a book for the color challenge. I plan on reading Warrior Girl in January with Lea so should have some thoughts on soon.

Sure, I will make the thread today! I usually only make a thread if multiple people are reading, because I figure if it is just us two, we can message. But, since you'll be reading it soon, let me make a post! And when you get to it, you can add your thoughts too, Lillie! :-)

Thanks Lea! I’m currently on the hold list so I’ll read it as soon as I get it and then look at the discussion thread.

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1227 comments Finished my 1st book off this list - A Little Hope A Little Hope by Ethan Joella . 4 stars

I’m really impressed with this debut novel. An author who can take multiple characters with various backgrounds and obstacles and somehow weave them all together in one cohesive story is impressive. While this story is thought provoking and deals with tough subjects of cancer, grief, loss and despair; it’s also a story of love, forgiveness, second chances and ultimately hope. It's a fast read you won't want to put down.

message 30: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1227 comments Finished my 2nd book of the list - Warrior Girl Unearthed Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley . 4 stars.

I loved Angeline Boulley's first book Firekeeper's Daughter. I could not put that one down! Warrior Girl Unearthed is a good story, but not quite as great as her first novel. This one is a slow burn that really catches fire the last 25% of the novel. That's when it was hard to put down. What I appreciate about both novels is all the culture, traditions, language and ancestry you learn about Native Americans. I dare say I felt like I learned more history of the Native Americans and tribes than I did in school.

I like where she's going with these stories and look forward to future books from her.

This was a fun buddy read with Lea! 😊

The mystery part is cool. But more so for me, learning more about some of the obstacles and barriers thr Native American community faces was educational.

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1227 comments Finished my 3rd book of the list - The Rules of Magic The Rules of Magic (Practical Magic, #0.2) by Alice Hoffman . 4 stars

I have been somewhat avoiding this book because it's not a normal genre I read, and what a mistake that would have been to not read this. This is a beautifully, enchanting and magical book. The lessons of love, sisterhood, family and finding your way in the world are ones anyone can relate to. This is my first Hoffman book and I don't believe it will be my last. Her writing cast a spell on me! Now i have to watch Practical Magic!

I highly recommend it Bill. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I not only enjoyed the story but also became so invested in the characters and their stories and outcomes. I want to read the other books in this series and watch the movie Practical Magic.

Agreed. It also helps me understand why this is more than just a simple "mystery" story. Besides, I always think its a binus when ive walked away from a book learning something new.

Yes, yes, yes!!!!! This is a book you need to read! This is so far from your average, run of the mill thriller/Mystery. This story will keep you on your toes, keep you guessing the whole time and then bam- that ending!!!! I cannot wait for this to be adapted to a TV series. And please, please write a sequel!! Wicked good book!!!

Kristine | 405 comments Alissa~ First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston does sound good. That is crazy the wait. I have a library account from where I used to live and it ties in 50+ libraries. I get the books fast. Just looked it up, the wait is expected 4 weeks and often will come up quicker. I don’t know if we are allowed to do this, but if it was ok, I’d place the book on hold for you and give you my password. They have 353 copies, 2 people waiting per book.

Every time I visit this group I end up saying "phew! I'm not the only one". Whether it's lists, or library holds (and forgetting I put something on hold), or just generally thinking about books obsessively :)
