Lindsey G's My Bookcase is Crashing Reading Challenge 2024

It's both dear, both. I know because I am too..... lol
This is another great list!

Carrie Soto is in my to-read pile. I only read The Seven Husbands this year, so Daisy Jones will probably be on my 2024 challenge. I'm still deciding on my books for it though

Always glad I have a partner in crime!!!

Thanks Ioana! 😊 I have read This Tender Land and I loved it! So I'm super excited to red Ordinary Grace.

Thanks Bill! 😊 I'm in super clean mode! Lol

Thanks Lea!! 😊 Good to hear about Beach Read. I enjoyed her other books. I do want to read The Happy Place. So if you decide to read it let me know, I'll buddy read and grb it from the library.

Thanks Denise! 😊 Those three books were roll overs I didn't get to this year. So hopefully I'll knock them out this year.

I loved Daisy Jones!!! I hope you add it to your 2024 list. Loved thr book and the tv show!!

Thanks Jackie! 😊 I definitely think I'm a little bit both. 😅

It's on my Individual Challenge now, I'm hoping to pick it up in the summer. I'll remind you then and if you still haven't read it, let's definitely buddy read it together. :-)

Done!!! I just love her books!!!

Thanks Alondra! 😊

I think my list is now set!

I have Warrior Girl Unearthed on a list for this year as well. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it and all of the books. Good luck!

Thanks Lillie! 😊 I think I'm crazy with 3 lists 😅 But hopefully this will knock out some of my huge tbr list. I love seeing the bookcovers, and it makes it super easy to pick a book for the color challenge. I plan on reading Warrior Girl in January with Lea so should have some thoughts on soon.

Will you be posting your discussion on the Buddy Reads page? I'd love to follow it, if you are.

Sure, I will make the thread today! I usually only make a thread if multiple people are reading, because I figure if it is just us two, we can message. But, since you'll be reading it soon, let me make a post! And when you get to it, you can add your thoughts too, Lillie! :-)

Thanks Lea! I’m currently on the hold list so I’ll read it as soon as I get it and then look at the discussion thread.

I’m really impressed with this debut novel. An author who can take multiple characters with various backgrounds and obstacles and somehow weave them all together in one cohesive story is impressive. While this story is thought provoking and deals with tough subjects of cancer, grief, loss and despair; it’s also a story of love, forgiveness, second chances and ultimately hope. It's a fast read you won't want to put down.

I loved Angeline Boulley's first book Firekeeper's Daughter. I could not put that one down! Warrior Girl Unearthed is a good story, but not quite as great as her first novel. This one is a slow burn that really catches fire the last 25% of the novel. That's when it was hard to put down. What I appreciate about both novels is all the culture, traditions, language and ancestry you learn about Native Americans. I dare say I felt like I learned more history of the Native Americans and tribes than I did in school.
I like where she's going with these stories and look forward to future books from her.
This was a fun buddy read with Lea! 😊

I was hinky on Firekeepers daughter, but went ahead and added it since so many enjoyed it. Besides; it is a mystery; so, I'm game.

The mystery part is cool. But more so for me, learning more about some of the obstacles and barriers thr Native American community faces was educational.

I have been somewhat avoiding this book because it's not a normal genre I read, and what a mistake that would have been to not read this. This is a beautifully, enchanting and magical book. The lessons of love, sisterhood, family and finding your way in the world are ones anyone can relate to. This is my first Hoffman book and I don't believe it will be my last. Her writing cast a spell on me! Now i have to watch Practical Magic!

I highly recommend it Bill. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I not only enjoyed the story but also became so invested in the characters and their stories and outcomes. I want to read the other books in this series and watch the movie Practical Magic.

Agreed. It also helps me understand why this is more than just a simple "mystery" story. Besides, I always think its a binus when ive walked away from a book learning something new.

Yes, yes, yes!!!!! This is a book you need to read! This is so far from your average, run of the mill thriller/Mystery. This story will keep you on your toes, keep you guessing the whole time and then bam- that ending!!!! I cannot wait for this to be adapted to a TV series. And please, please write a sequel!! Wicked good book!!!

I hope you like it. Octavia Spencer is producing this into a tv series. I cannot wait. I think its harder and harder these days to write a mystery/thriller that surprises you and this one did!

So, I have reserved this at my library. They have two copies, and I am 13th in line. Check out times are 4 weeks and books can be renewed twice. So maybe I will be reading this next year?
Anyway, it sounds great and I will be reading it . . .

Darn it... lol ill get to it eventually haha I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

Ran into the same problem. I’m sure I’ll have forgotten about it by the time it’s my turn, lol

I'm happy to report I am only 177...

it happens ALL the time. I'll finally get a book and I'm like "huh, what book is this??" lol

Every time I visit this group I end up saying "phew! I'm not the only one". Whether it's lists, or library holds (and forgetting I put something on hold), or just generally thinking about books obsessively :)
