The story ends in a cliffhanger with Sonya and Owen walking through the mirror in the ballroom, leaving Chloe and Trey behind. Were they led there by the good spirits or Hester? What do you think the scene with Carlotta and Molly means? Who was weeping? Any idea of what they’ll find through on the other side of the mirror?

I think it was the good spirits leading them. It has been the good spirits leading Sonya's dream trips through the mirror before so he could see what happened in the past.

I'm lost as to the other questions.

I believe the good spirits are leading them to the answers that will help end the curse.

I believe that Carlotta and Molly are telling Sonya what will happen to her in the future if she doesn't try to end the curse. Sonya was crying already which feeds the evil. Carlotta and Molly want her to end the pain and early deaths.

I think the next book is going to take Sonya and Trey to the events that killed their ancestors. What they learn will give them the information they need to plan their attack on the evil Hester.
