Nick will need to keep a close eye on Terry. He could very well end up with a knife in his back, figuratively of course.
It is very generous of Nick. He also sees that Terry simply needs someone to believe in him and something to motivate him to seek the help he needs.
Terry deserves a chance. He made a mistake, but his parents were not fair to him. It will be interesting to see if he takes this opportunity and makes the most of it. Nick is giving him an opportunity that can turn him around.
I think asking Terry to be the Deputy Chief of Staff will give him the confidence he needs to straighten out his life.
