Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments I have at least 10 years of reading and listening and I'm 64, so need to get a move on my TBR! Of course, lots of series. I'm returning to set times to read and listen daily.

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments Well, it's February and my progress this year is steady. I have a large TBR going back to 2012 unread/unlistened. Early in the year, I try to focus on reading/listening to an ebook and audiobook from each year. Gives me a variety really as well as enjoying some of those titles I've had for awhile. Soon though I'll return to working on series again.

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments My end of March post although we are well into April already. Live and Let Die by Ian Flemming turned out to be pretty good if you can set aside the sexism of the time. I can, sis can't. My favorite of the month was Cell by Robin Cook - so current especially since I use a smart insulin pump now. Medical thriller and not too long.

I'm currently housesitting for sis and BIL while they go to view the total eclipse. Today can't see well so finally started audiobook Shogun by James Clavell. Just the prologue and I'm already hooked! I'll be done in about 53 hours.... My Mom and Dad read this when I was a teenager. While I usually read their books, I can't remember actually reading this one. I did see the mini-series which was great.

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments May the Fourth already! April was pretty good although reading slowed up due to medical issues. Bounced a lot between genres this month. Alas, too many purchases again!! No MORE new series!!! I have more than 8 years of reading and I'll be 65 this year!

Nyssa | 1569 comments Hi Stephanie,

I hope May is treating you well. Good Luck with the medical issues.

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments Have done very little reading or listening in May and much of June. Sick kitties. My kitties are a sibling group and 17.5 years old. In March, all 4 came down with a virus likely acquired by Sylvester during a vet visit. Bart and Polly were quite ill but recovered. Then in May, Sylvester and Polly were quite sick. Sylvester has been diagnosed with diabetes and is now stable. Polly had some unknown infection that would not respond to any treatment. I finally had to have her put down on Saturday because she was doing so poorly. She may have had cancer which would explain the continued weight loss after the virus and despite a good appetite. Polly was my personal kitty so it's much harder to get used to the loss.

I did do some retail therapy and bought a year's worth of audiobooks at the Audible Member's sale.

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments July Wrapup. Finally finished Shogun. Excellent story! I recommend to anybody who likes historical fiction. Also mostly caught up with Time Police by Jodi Taylor. One book left. Just picking out random books now both ebook and audiobook.

On the kitty front, they all have one problem or other. Sylvester and Bartie don'lt feel very well, but it's a continuation of their problems. Alice appears to be lame in one foot so I need to bring her in next week.

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments September Wrapup. Mostly listening to easy audiobooks with simple plots. Completely caught up Time Police series by Jodi Taylor. Finished a duo of books I've had unlistened in my library since 2012! They turned out to be very good.

Two of three kitties are doing well. Sylvester is not - can't get his blood sugar stabilized. They are 18 years old on the 10th.

Nyssa | 1569 comments I'm sorry Sylvester is not doing well (((Hugs)))

Congrats and best wishes with the audiobooks!

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 459 comments Well we've come to the end of the year. I did meet my goals and pages for the year, but my TBR still went up. I have bought virtually all the books to complete series I enjoy (at deep discount), so hopefully I'll be able to read/listen more than I buy.

On a sad note, I had to put both Sylvester and Bartie down this month. Further treatment wasn't going to make either one feel better. They were both 18 years old so a long life. So that was 3 cats lost this year. Still have Alice, who is also 18, but fat, grumpy and not all together friendly when out of her lair. So, working on her more to increase exercise to get that weight down slowly. Don't plan to get more pets in future although once Alice passes, may consider fostering as there is a shortage of willing people and they pay the vet bills.
