Hey you!! I was working on a reply to you in the Haunted Tavern thread haha.

Yes I really liked Silent Patient, but that's all I read from him. Hm, I was thinking either this or First Lie Wins.

I also see there's a giveaway on GR for it, I never win but worth a shot lol.

I have a BOTM membership but I have to admit to not be too fond of January's selections. Decided to pass on them.

I save my credits when I'm not sure, then I get two in next order or shop from previous titles :)

I always check Everand before I order anything just to make sure I don't already have access to it, but yeah that thriller does look good, lots of people reading it now.

I usually get a book but if nothing really strikes my fancy I'm willing to skip.
When we get to chose a free book from the year end winners, I'll always choose something. If I don't want it, someone I know will. :)

I used to have it (LOVED The Silent Patient!), but ended up getting more "special editions" from Indie booksellers a couple years back; some months I'd find a few I'd like, others nothing really interested me. I still check them every month and sometimes end up ordering books from there, but eventually cancelling. This lineup, The Fury looks promising.

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments @Kasia: ZOMG HAI2U! LoL yay, that's exciting to hear and thanks! I hope you win that giveaway since everything will fall into place...

Kandice | 360 comments My husband gave me a year subscription to this for Christmas once and I was very pleased with every month's selections. I have them all shelved together.

Someday I hope to subscribe again.

I felt the same way about The Silent Patient. I plan to read The Fury at some point.

Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 634 comments Interesting. I did not know Book Of The Month Club was still in existence. I may check this out later.
Also, I'll need to research to see if The Science Fiction Book Club is still out there. I was a member of that several times, but not in the last twenty years.

I went to check to see if the Feb books were listed early and saw BOTM is down for some kind of updating. WTH? Why do that at the time when members are looking for the new books? Someone didn't give this any thought at all.

Kasia (kasia_s) | 4516 comments Mod
I was on it yesterday but yes, there's a picture of a pizza on their site lol... well they better fix it before Feb 1st which is hours away. I ended up not getting anything for jan yet so I have 2 credits right now.

I decided not to get a book again this month. The one I would have gotten, The Women, I have pre-ordered from B&N already.

I was wondering what you'd pick, I didn't love any of them actually, so might peruse their catalog for something older. I actually really wanted to read Black Cake for a while so might get that, since the ebook is almost the same price as my credit.

I saw on IG that a lot of people were skipping this month's BOTM.

message 23: by Erika (new)

Erika | 475 comments Late to the game here... I used to have a BOTM subscription I got for a gift last year (six months) but I didn't renew it. It was fun though! I also pay for Kindle Unlimited and Audible (not to mention other music and movie subs) so I wanted to cap some subscriptions for now.

I did like that you could skip the selections, and/or choose older releases as well.

March books are up and it's the month to pick a free book from the nominations for best BOTM book for 2023.

I chose Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh for March and Weyward by Emilia Hart for the free book.

Some of us have a Book of the Month membership and have started to share what books we're getting. It's something completely separate from GoodReads.

Erika | 475 comments Yes, I have Weyward too! It's so good! The ending is very satisfying and I love the cover as well.

One of my friends just started reading The Fury from BOTM The Fury by Alex Michaelides
That one has weird cover art! I told her to let me know if there's any meaning to it. It reminds me of Eye of Sauron or "The Ring" Lol

Ohh thank you! I paused mine for a bit think I have credit or two still to go. I've been such a slow reader this year that Im in no rush to jump on something right now, saving it for when I can get back into reading more.

I was skipping quite a few months... too many romance novels and fantasy. Not my thing for the most part.
