The gates were always open as if daring people to step foot inside, perhaps the reason why they didn't was because they didn't want to know why the gates weren't locked.

Rylan didn't want to be the one to finish this lucky streak the town had of avoiding the missing people. He didn't have any interest in becoming one of the missing people.

"Rylan, what if they are just waiting for someone to help them?" Annabelle whispered, clinching Rylan's cuff of his shirt. She yanked twice, her expression worried. "If you don't act now, I'll go there myself."

He didn't need his sister to be one of the missing people either. He wasn't sure which was worse. The visions were growing worse, he knew who was waiting on the other side of the gate anyways. The voice told him not to bother with telling anyone.

Rylan cherished his secrecy, he had no hope of spilling the truth to the whole town. Since his father had passed and his mum had walked out he was left the orphaned older brother everyone pitied.

He was laid back, he liked that. Why was that a bad thing? Rylan itched towards the gate the unwelcoming voice pushing his backwards. He ignored the discomfort. He wouldn't let his sister suffer.

He moved forward.
