Play Book Tag discussion

I hadn’t read this before, though I have watched both of the series made from the book.

James Herriot takes a job as assistant to Dr. Siegfried Farnon a vet in Yorkshire. The book covers the first couple of years there. The local characters are quirky, funny, and set in their ways. Lots of superstition about doing things the old way and skepticism about anything new, although James doesn’t have access to some of the new equipment. This is set in a very rural 1937+. Siegfried's younger brother, Tristan, also training and not succeeding in veterinary school is good for a laugh. Love the parts about James’ courtship and dealing with Tricki Woo and Nugent.

I enjoyed all the anecdotal stories, but I would not be as enamored of the job as James was. It was often hard work and filthy.
