Sam gets leveled by an apparent migraine, bad enough that she has to be taken to the hospital. She begs them not to call Nick because she doesn’t want to ruin his outing with Scotty at Fenway Park. Right thing to do or old patterns? What do you think brought on the migraine when she’s never had one before?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I think, in this instance, that Sam's instincts were okay about not rushing to call Nick. I have been wondering what caused that ghastly migraine -- stress, lack of sleep, emotional overload, multiple murders at the stroke of midnight the first night back on duty.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree with Charlene. Sam did the right thing in this case. As a migraine sufferer most of my life, I'm wondering if Sam's migraine is a Peri-menopausal symptom. It would be one way that she doesn't have another miscarriage. The other time I had strong side effects of a migraine was when I was pregnant with my second child. Who knows?

I was thinking this as well. I know that the contraception shot is not 100% effective for all women.

Force is making pregnancy, fertility and adoption a significant theme in this series.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I knew that Sam wasn't going to die, but it brought back a time when a friend's 30-year-old husband had horrid headaches, ignored them and died of a brain aneurism. I can understand why she didn't want Nick notified, but I think he should have been.

I had migraines from birth control pills. They went away when I was switched to a different pill. Sam having such severe headaches makes me think it was because of the two concussions she suffered combined with stress.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think Sam was correct in not letting Nick know that she was sick. All he could have done was cut the day short and sit by her bed at the hospital. It would have ruined Scotty's day. I'm glad she didn't tell him.

Same thing happened to my uncle (I was about three years old). He was young, healthy and vibrant. Was leveled by a horrible headache all day and died that night. He was about 29-years old. Headaches are nothing to take lightly, especially when they don’t normally happen.
