I really like this one and hope you guys do too. If I weren't signed up for so many reads this month, I might reread this one.

I loved all the books by Toni Morrison I read so far, so I suppose this one won't be the exception 🤞

March Buddy Read & Readathon, Black/Women’s History Month

I started this a few days early, because I signed up to read too many books in March, and I'm traveling the last week and one half of the month! (What was I thinking?) 🤪

(view spoiler)[Sula was, for me, a harder read--not only because of the subject matter, but because of the denseness of the prose. I often had to go back and reread sections to fully appreciate the meaning. The story, however, was an important one. (hide spoiler)]

I finished it yesterday, and I liked it very much.
(view spoiler)[All the characters in the books I have read so far by Toni Morrison are transgressive to some extent, and Sula could not be the exception, as she is different from everything expected of her, everyone treats her as if she were dangerous. The different is always scary.
Feminism, racism, the consequences of war, good and evil, death, friendship, are some of the topics that Morrison makes us reflect and think about. Certainly, yo cannot stay indifferent after reading Sula. (hide spoiler)]

Excellent analysis of Sula. It was a fascinating and important book. I was suprised by Sula, when I read the section in the book about her acting out because she felt she was "nothing" after what happened with Chicken.
