How did this set up your expectations of the story? Did this scene stay with you throughout the story?

It stayed with me enough that I justified the vigilantism to a point.

I know this goes on because of racism. It hurts my heart so much. I can't understand anyone hating another human being or groups of people to the point of this type of violence.

The scene sticks with you and definitely sets the story line for the upcoming chapters.

Yes, this scene stuck with me and I really wanted to see Clay seriously hurt.
