Renuka | 212 comments Wow, I thought for sure North and South or Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was going to win but the winner is FAHRENHEIT 451!! What a close race, but I'm so happy this book won because I've been planning on reading it for ages and now I finally get to!!

Who's excited?!! ME! What do you guys think? :)

message 2: by May (new) - rated it 5 stars

May I will be definitely rereading it! I also want to read North and South.

message 3: by Katy (new)

Katy I've been reading North and South, so I'll stick with that!
F 451 is an amazing book!! I've read it a bunch of times. For those who are reading it for the first time, enjoy!!! It's one of the books that got me into dystopian fiction :)

Cheyenne (desert_windmill) I'm very excited this won! People have been recommending it to me for years, let's do this!

Julie | 3 comments Great pick ! It's a very good book.

message 6: by Tamara (new) - added it

Tamara (tamarasan) I just watched the old 60's movie last night. It was sooooo 1960's; I recommend it. I read this a long time ago, but I've been meaning to re-read it.

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Sadly, I just read this, but it'll be fresh in my mind as you guys read and discuss.

message 8: by Silvia, (grangerandherbooks) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments I read this a couple of years ago, but I still remember it pretty well so I'll be able to participate in the discussion! Who's started it already? It's a pretty fast book!

message 9: by Sole (new) - added it

Sole (fluorita) Cool, I think I have this one somewhere around and was waiting to read it. Sad thing is I don¿t think I'll be able to read it this month, unless I do a reading marathon starting on the second half of this month :/

message 10: by Maura (new) - added it

Maura (just_maura) This book is waiting for me to pick it up ages now. It's time.

message 11: by Dinalee (new)

Dinalee (dinamitebooks) | 3 comments I got a copy of this book for free at my college library during World Book Day, so it's just been sitting on my shelf for months. Now I have a reason to pick it up and read it :) (although I also want to read a Jane Austen novel too, but we'll see)

message 12: by Renuka , (eternal-books) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Renuka | 212 comments I just finished North and South, and now I have to get hold of this one! I'm so excited, especially because so many of you have already enjoyed it!

Melany (globalbymel) I read this about two years ago now for a class and I still have it on my book shelf, so I'm going to try and do a quick re-read sometime this month so I can contribute to the discussion. I liked it a lot and am looking forward to hearing people's reactions!

Hi Everyone. This is my 1st time participating in a book challenge. I started this book on 4/11 & read 71 pages, on day two(4/10) I read 49 pages & I finished this book last night(4/11) /w/ 45 pgs. read. I Found this book to be kind of confusing therefore I didn't really care for it. Luckily it was a short read as I kind of had to force myself to finish it, especially if I wanted to complete this book challenge. I gave this book 2 out of 5 stars.

message 15: by Shivangi (new)

Shivangi (stixer) | 25 comments Argh, I'm not going to be able to take part this month -_-
I've got entrance exams coming up and I can either read or write in my spare time, and after all that studing, I just need to write.

Rhia (rhiareads...) (rhiasaurus) Well I binge-read this yesterday after spending 3 days trying to track down a physical copy in all the local bookstores and finally resorting to Kindle... anyways it was pretty good! Love the idea, and it was a quick read - srsly it only took me a couple of hours. Will have to see if I can fit in some more classics this month I think.

message 17: by Renuka , (eternal-books) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Renuka | 212 comments @Shivangi - I feel you! I have exams coming up too, and ugh so stressful.

@Rhia - I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I've been hearing it's relatively short, so I'm glad. I still haven't gotten my copy yet! Sigh. I might end up reading this after the month is over, simply because I won't get it in time! :( Ohh welll...

message 18: by Wafa (new) - rated it 4 stars

Wafa almost finish the book,

I really like it so far

message 19: by Wafa (new) - rated it 4 stars

Wafa i'd finish the book.

the development seems a bit rushed. But it is a good book. When Guy Montag reveals to his wife his collection of books I was surprised too that he actually have lots of them books.

by the way, wasn't it being rude that Guy Montag turn off the parlor walls so that her wife' friends and her wife engage in conversation? I would be so enraged if someone turns off the tv when I am watching it especially with my friends.
even quoting them poem! Guy Montag needs to chill

Melany (globalbymel) Okay, so a question for those who have finished the book (or not, I guess, if you don't mind spoilers).

At the end of Fahrenheit 451, Montag meets a group of travellers who have all dedicated themselves to "becoming" a book so it will be perserved for the future. If you were going to memorize a book for a future world with no books, which would you want to become?

I used to think I'd want to be a big philosophy book, like Plato's Republic, but now I think I would prefer to be one of those children's books that make you cry. Like Charolette's Web or Where the Red Fern Grows.

Kirsty (kirstymc) I just finished this book yesterday and really enjoyed it! I do love a book about books and I was so glad this one was chosen for this month because I might not have got round to reading it for ages otherwise.

Oh I love this idea! I would like to be Wonder by RJ Palacios, because it teaches about acceptance, love, family, friendship, difference, bullying, learning, growing, role models, parenting. It has so many important messages!

What an amazing question! I think I'd want to be a book that had a big impact on me somewhere along my life. Maybe...The Book Thief. Or a childhood favorite? I'm not sure, maybe I just haven't read the book yet.
