MountainKat | 31593 comments Information required when posting your completion/s:

Task
Book/cover link
Page numbers with source
How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.
Date Completed.
Rating/Review.

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**

Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though. I will use the team leader as a point of contact if needed.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 8, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Hey everyone! Thanks for letting me join you. It's been a while since done this challenge so I'm excited to jump back in.

The Merry M8s is a cute name, love that ☺️

I have briefly looked over the tasks that may need info and made note of my answers, but a spreadsheet sounds amazing! So will wait and add then.

Liza (liza5326) | 802 comments Hi everyone! Excited to start the race again with a couple familiar faces and welcome Trip!

I have the spreadsheet. Just finished cleaning it up for the new challenge and then I will add in the tasks for collaboration.

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Thanks!

I've put in some ideas and my answers onto the spreadsheet so far. Looks great ☺️

message 11: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31593 comments Liza, as keeper of the spreadsheet are you the team leader? 😁

message 12: by Trip (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Oh just a heads up I am away for weekend, so may not be as active but will definitely check in for first task and still reading ☺️

message 13: by Lea (new)

Lea | 1631 comments Hi everyone
Looking forward to playing again and a special welcome to you Trip, thanks for joining us.
I think Merry M8s is a great name ☺️
I am having a crazy busy week at work so my brain is a bit fried 🤯😖 hopefully it will be better within the next 2 weeks
So I will try to get the spreadsheet filled out tonight or tomorrow

Liza (liza5326) | 802 comments I can be the team leader if no one else wants to step up. I haven't done it before, but I'm always willing to give it a go!

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Liza wrote: "I can be the team leader if no one else wants to step up. I haven't done it before, but I'm always willing to give it a go!"

I think you'd be great. Honestly if we put in place the last person to post their completion should post in the main thread for the team you probably won't have much to do. Also, if as a team we narrow our choices down to 2 (for example everyone reads a book with the same color cover and we're all ok with blue or red) the person who posts first after our new task is posted makes the final decision.

message 16: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments For everyone read the same series is easy to slide into the In Death books because there are so many and I'd be ok with reading one but I'm going to see if there are any long standing MM series that we might all agree on as well. I like the Rocktober Fest suggestion and the Franklin U. I'd absolutely re-read one of the Vino and Veritas books if we were all feeling Contemporary.

message 17: by Trip (last edited Apr 12, 2024 12:36AM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments I'm not really a fan of mystery so In death wouldn't work for me sorry. But the rest of the recs on spreadsheet so far I'm happy to try, I just picked a couple that I know have a lot of books in them and variety of authors ☺️

message 18: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments I've modified message 5 hiding my original "Hello" message behind a spoiler. Added our SS link for quick find access. I can add anything to that message we want to be able to find easy as it's the first team message after Kat's TART posts. Just let me know what you want me to add....or even if you want me to add anything at all. I'm all good either way.

message 19: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments I'm really not trying to take over or anything. I'm just up all night because of my work schedule. It's currently 4:45am in Iowa. This makes it 5:45am in Massachusetts, 10:45am in Kent UK, and 11:45am in Denmark. Good morning all!

I asked for our team name to be Merry M8s while I was asking a question about #76. If Kat says a body part is an item I was thinking a man nipple would be a good cover item to go with. I did put gun because I love romantic Suspense but it isn't a good one for Trip but a neked man chest seems universal on many sub-genres.

message 20: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Same series suggestions so far...
Made Marian by Lucy Lennox (CR)
Forever Wilde by Lucy Lennox (CR)
The Chosen Universe by Macy Blake (PNR)
Lavender Shores by Rosalind Abel (CR)
In Death by JD Robb (RS/Mystery)
Road to Rocktoberfest by various authors (CR)
Men of Hidden Creek by various authors (CR)
Franklin U by various authors (CR)
Vino and Veritas by various authors (CR)

Any other suggestions?

Hope you having a good night, I should be eating lunch not checking my phone
I look at the spreadsheet later today again I pretty open to read most things and do not have a strong preference for any series
I do not read a lot PNR but I often do for challenges but there recommendations are highly appreciated

message 22: by Trip (last edited Apr 12, 2024 03:15AM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Morning ☺️

Naked chest is a great option, if we can use that it's pretty perfect. I'm happy with Gun too though, as I do have a few mafia and action types, I can enjoy suspense and mystery on rare occasions just not my main. 🖤

Maybe sanctuary if want mystery starts with Guarding Morgan as I did recently read and enjoy this one.

message 23: by Lea (new)

Lea | 1631 comments I think that
Franklin U by various authors (CR)
Vino and Veritas by various authors (CR)
Made Marian by Lucy Lennox (CR)
Forever Wilde by Lucy Lennox (CR)

Are all great options to, I do not know the others but I can read from them all😀

message 24: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Kat approved a body part as a cover item as long as it's specific. So something like man's left nipple would work or man's nipples where both would have to be seen would work.

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments First Task - All Teams!

Task 1 - Each teammate reads a book initially published in April of any year OR a book with flowers on the cover - teams decide. No pass for this task.

"April showers bring May flowers. Or so the saying goes… It’s been mostly snow showers for us lately, though my daffodils are trying valiantly to bloom!"

As a team, decide if you are reading books initially published in April of any year OR books with flowers on the cover. (Please note that says ‘flowers’ - plural. Your book must have more than one flower on the cover to qualify.) If the team has decided on April for this task, you will be using the initial publication date - if there is a date at the top of the editions page USE IT! Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition of any format for the qualification. If the team has decided on flowers on the cover, you may use any edition’s cover to qualify your book. The qualifying cover must distinctly and clearly show more than one flower on the cover. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion post. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count. No pass for this task.

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments I'm voting for April too, I have a few new releases I can jump into ☺️ But I think I have some flowers somewhere if others prefer.

message 28: by Liza (new)

Liza (liza5326) | 802 comments April works for me!

message 29: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Hope everyone just went with April and not waited around for me to chime in. Going forward I'm good with the first person who posts after our task is announced being the "final decision" maker for us. That way no one is sitting around waiting to start a new book. How does that sound for everyone else?

message 30: by Liza (new)

Liza (liza5326) | 802 comments That’s perfect for me. I started my April book already. Hopefully will finish tonight if this damn migraine clears up.
