MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though. I will use the team leader as a point of contact if needed.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 11, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Kat (bookworm2017) | 943 comments Hello everyone. I’m from Glasgow in Scotland. I live with my fiancé John and our two cats Bonnie and Clyde. Their brother and sister. I’m a sales assistant for a heart charity shop.

I’m in time zone GMT. It’s currently after midnight here. I’m happy with team 11 as our name.

Reading wise I like contemporary and new adult. Thrillers, and crime humour and woman fiction . With the odd non fiction thrown in. I have quite a lot of non fiction but not in the mood for it a lot.

Kat (bookworm2017) | 943 comments All have in common: Christina Lauren, Frieda Mcfadden, Colleen Hoover, Harlan Coben,

A few of us like Beth O’Leary and Jodi Picolut

Same series would prob have to be Christina Lauren or Harlan coben and Colleen Hoover.

Any thoughts?

message 7: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments Hi team! I'm Breann. I'm in Southern AZ (MST time zone)

I read most MF subgenres. I especially enjoy historicals and suspense.

Some team name ideas:
Racers After Dark
Reading for Miles
Lost in Pace
Not Fast But Fabulous

I'm good with these. I will read Christina Lauren but not my first choice.

A few of us also read Nora Roberts.

message 10: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments I guess my first choice from these would be Frieda McFadden

message 11: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments 12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

This is another one to think about. How do we want to go about this?

I guess we could compare our lists and recommend one on their list you’ve read?

Char | 403 comments I'm Char, I'm from India, and its around 9AM here now

What if we list the books we like, and the rest could choose?
Or, we could do the comparison of books in GR website
For example,
My compatability with Keri is 87%,
With Breann is 76% and with Kat its 80%

Which means I'd be fine with any book any of you recommend..
What if we go around doing this, and we can choose the teammate to recommend our books?

That’s a good idea!

So we could give 1 rec to 1 teammate? Or maybe give a couple recs to each teammate? Then when the category gets called we’ll have choices.

message 17: by Char (new)

Char | 403 comments Yess
The second one maybe?
So we could have options to choose from!

Also, who wants to be captain?

message 18: by Keri (new)

Keri | 212 comments Hi team, I'm checking in!
I like Read for Miles also, that's a good one.

I do like Colleen Hoover, Christina Lauren and Harlan Coben. Probably Harlan Coben is my top choice out of those as I'm going through his backlist right now.

I will have to get some time to go over why we need this again as it's been YEARS ago I did this challenge once and I don't really remember how at all lol.

I'd prefer not to be captain as I've had a lot going on at work, along with spotty internet we are working on and have not been able to be on daily lately as I prefer. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stay on top of things but am glad to help whoever ends up captain when I am able.

message 19: by Keri (new)

Keri | 212 comments I read mostly mystery/thriller, fantasy and some contemporary. Really a little of most genres also. When I read romance I prefer little to no smut. Like Colleen Hoover level.
I'll get on and say more tonight but I'm getting ready for work now and just wanted to check in. :-)

I’m happy to team leader if nobody else is. Although this is my first time so any help would be appreciated .im not saying we have to decide everything just now but maybe just get an idea so there’s no hold up due to time differences.

64. Europe as lots of options
70. Crime or romance
71. This can be chosen nearer the time

Keri | 212 comments Pasted this for myself and then I'll work on filling it out now that I'm home from work.

Tasks:
1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
Colleen Hoover
Harlan Coben
Christina Lauren
Freida McFadden
Emily Henry
Katherine Center
Riley Sager
Ruth Ware
Abby Jimenez
Lisa Jewell
Alice Feeney
Rebecca Ross
Elin Hildebrand
Samantha Downing
Ashley Poston
Ashley Winstead
Taylor Jenkins Reid
Lynn Painter
Sarah Adams
Sarah J. Maas
Leigh Bardugo
Marissa Meyer
Tahereh Mafi
Jennifer Lynne Barnes

Stephanie Garber
Beth O'Leary
Jodi Picoult

9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.

29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.
maybe cop/detective

33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.
if MPG must be romance: contemporary, chick lit
if MPG can be whatever: cozy, contemporary, mystery, crime, suspense are some options I see on books often

49. Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year, teams decide. No pass for this task.
open here to anything 2017 or newer. the more recent year for me the better

50. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location. New York or London seem very frequent just in my experience

51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
see #1

52. Read 6 books with the same color cover, teams decide color. open here, due to UNO challenge I have shelves for each cover colore lol

53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task.
mine is Ohio, I know a few books set in Ohio but not a ton. Some Celeste Ng, some David Bell (thriller author from here) for a couple

54. Read 6 books set on a beach or in the mountains, teams decide which.
i would choose beach but can do the other

55. Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US, teams decide country.
I would choose England or UK it seems fairly easy to find in many genres

56. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.

58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate.
need to find out how to find when I joined RRRC...update thank you Kat for figuring all our dates out. I also agree with 2019!

62. Read a minimum of 1000 pages in books written by an author whose first or last name begins with the first letter of a teammate's screen name.
if I understand this one right, the options are B, C and K...I can do any of those

64. Read 6 books not set on a continent of a teammate. Space does not count - must be a real continent.
I'm on North America

65. Each player reads 2 books in a series, teammates can read the same or different series.
this one doesn't require us to do the same right?

70. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books of the same sub-genre, but by different authors.
if MPG must be romance: contemporary, chick lit
if MPG can be whatever: cozy, contemporary, mystery, crime, suspense are some options I see on books often

71. Pick another team and each member reads one book that was read by a member for this challenge. No pass for this task.
this one may be hard...but maybe if they do these type posts we can get an idea of a team that has things we'd all like?

72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.
I'm an 80s baby and I'd like to not use my decade if there's a more recent one lol

73. Read a minimum of 1500 pages in books by the same author, teams decide author.
see #1

74. Read 6 books published in a teammates' birth month, you may not use your own month.
my birth month is December

75. Read over 1000 pages in books that start with the same letter (no articles), teams decide letter.
I'm open to some options here...I have a variety on my TBR

76. Read 6 books with a specific item on the cover, team selects item.
water, clouds/sky, weapon, building, tree, open to options

79. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.
enemies to lovers seems fairly common, fake dating, I don't normally pick by trope so unsure of a ton

82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.
this may be hard unless many of us are reading the same series...I don't read out of order lol I'll look some up I'm in the middle of

88. Read 6 books with a boat, plane, car or motorcycle on the cover, teams decide which
car is best/preferred for me, but have at least one with a boat and one with a plane. I would prefer NOT motorcycle

90. Each member reads a book published in sequential months, i.e. June, July, August and September 2019. Teams decide which months. No pass for this task.
fine with this prefer again years 2017 or more recent. the more recent year for me the better

91. Add up the years of the teammates' births and each teammate reads a book with that minimum number of pages. For example, teammates were born in 75, 83, 87 and 94 - each teammate reads a book at least 339 pages long. No pass for this task.
born in 1980

92. Read over 1500 pages in books set in the future or the past - teams decide.
I don't love either but can find something for either. also I wonder to dual timelines where some is in the recent past count? If yes, then I choose past. I have some where there's part taking place like 10 years ago and part in present?
I don't enjoy either, probably would choose future but not at all confidently, so I can go with majority since either way seems I'll be taking one for the team there lol

93. As a team, pick a Romance List from GR Listopia with less than 100 books on it, each teammate reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.
1- https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
2- https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
3- https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

94. Read 6 books published in sequential years, teams decide years.
broken record here...the more recent the years the better for me

95. As a team, select an animal. Read 8 books tagged with that animal.
dragons is my top choice but in case people don't read fantasy, dog is my second choice

96. Read a minimum of 1200 pages with the sun or the moon on the cover, teams decide which.
prefer sun but think I could do moon also

99. Each teammate lists 5 favorite books. Select books from 2 different teammates and read them.
I'll make a shelf

Keri | 212 comments Here's a post for me to put recommendations. I feel like I would like to be helpful and re-look at what types you guys like to read so I put some recommendations of things you'd like to read so I'll look into this more later also.

12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

Overall recs:
The Kind Worth Killing
No Exit
Station Eleven
Gone for Good
Beartown
Guilty Wives (I promise, the ones with David Ellis are GOOD)
The City of Brass
The Vanishing Half
Oona Out of Order

Romance or with romance subplot (in case it needs to be that):
The Light We Lost
November 9
Out of the Easy
Passenger
The Unhoneymooners
The Bodyguard

are they supposed to be romance? I wasn't sure so I added two categories (can you tell I struggle with decision making??? hahaha)

also, I need to pick 5 favorite books for #99 and I can pick from this list but would prefer to pick things you guys want to read.

For 12 read a book recommend by team mate

I’m not sure what sub genre is but I assumed it could be anything as in another challenge oj here it can be anything as long as fiction but now I’m remembering it may have to be romance.

Colleen Hoover is the only one that springs to mind cos series or something completely different. I know Keri doesn’t read smug and just of my series are minor smut at least. I’ll list some more romance series on next box

Yes. I'm asking are we just posting a list of general recs? Or are we each giving specific recs (based on their to read shelf) to each teammate?

I don’t think graphic novels are allowed, the ones on ur series in progress. I’m looking at previous amazing race challenges to try and help us.

This about present and past prompt: Books need to be set 50+ years in the past to work for that task or marked as a historical.

ugh. not my favorite. I don't enjoy either so I can go with majority since either way seems I'll be taking one for the team there lol
I can find something. I'll update my post to reflect.

I do have a bit of some OCD tendencies. I am over here debating if it would be a good idea to put our answers in a spreadsheet for these questions b/c that's how my mind works (even tho I'm not super sure how that would work lol). I LOVE lists and spreadsheets...

Keri | 212 comments That's a great idea looking at the past amazing race challenges!

Kat (bookworm2017) | 943 comments There is a 150 page minimum for books, rereads and audios ok. Books may only be used once per player during the challenge. Players may read the same book for a task unless otherwise specified. Books do not have to be romance, but must be fiction.

So we can use crime it doesn’t have to romance Whoop lol

I love romance but I can’t read it all the time

I use notes on iPad. Not sure if you have something like that? Me and spreadsheets don’t gel. I play pass the parcel as well so trying to finish my current read before that’s announced tomorrow and I’m on good reads looking through lists haha.

Oh I like to use notes on the iPad also. When does this one begin?
I need to be more conscious of when I start things since this one can’t use a book you start before the task is given and I’m a slower reader lol

Yay excited about that info!! I do like reading some romance but like variety in my genres so will be fun to mix things in!
