The book is called "Burned: A Daughters of Salem Novel," a YA novel about witches in modern Salem, Massachusetts.  It has a well-defined magic system, feline familiars, witch hunters, romance, and quite of bit of connection to the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. From that moment, I couldn’t stop asking:
Was it a natural death… or did the father kill her?

The book doesn’t give a clear answer — it leaves it to the reader to judge. That ambiguity really stuck with me. It’s not a thriller in the traditional sense, but the tension is constant and internal. You feel like you’re holding your breath, waiting for someone to tell the truth that never comes.
