Play Book Tag discussion

Jody Linder has lived in small town Rose, Kansas, her entire life being raised by her grandparents after the murder of her father and mother, Jay and Laurie Linder. Their deaths occurred in 1986 and the man who has spent 26 years in prison for the crime, Billy Crosby is returning to town in large part due to the efforts of his lawyer son Collin who knows his father is innocent. There are a few others in Rose who also believe Billy Crosby was railroaded but it is not a popular opinion especially when it involves the powerful and wealthy Linder family. Jody fears a confrontation with her parents' killer but she has always been drawn to Collin. Once Billy returns to town it is not long before violence shatters the peace and Jody is forced to look at the truth.

This was a good mystery with one heck of a surprise reveal at the end. Family dynamics can be messy and the Linder family is beset with a myriad of problems. Although the Linders have been known as kind and generous people for decades, there are always people like Billy who resent what they themselves cannot have. Everyone in town believed Billy needed to be in prison whether he committed the crime or not and his release lit the spark that resulted in several more deaths. I enjoyed this one.
