I've owned this one for a while and always put off reading it, not really because I was scared but just because there was always some other book that was more pressing. This challenge seems like a good time to check it out!

Rebeccah Giltrow (rebeccah_giltrow) | 76 comments I chose this book for the challenge. Unfortunately it didn't scare me at all. There were a couple of bits in the book that made me cringe, but I still managed to sleep at night!

I started this one this week. I have family visiting so it's probably going to take me longer than it usually would to finish it.

I actually don't remember the movie at all so it's sort of nice to read it without knowing what's going to happen. Hopefully that will make it a little scarier.

I have absolutely no courage for scary books. I hope you like it!

I just finished it and really loved it. I do think it made a huge difference that I don't remember the movie. I tried The Amityville Horror recently and just couldn't get into it since nothing was coming as a surprise.

I would probably use the word "unsettling" rather than scary, especially in the beginning of the book. There's just something unsettling about how it can come so suddenly and some of the content was creepy, like the (view spoiler) Once the action picks up then it I think it became disturbing but the scariness of the boo died down for me.

I know it's a horror classic so I'm really glad I read it for this week.
