One of Scotty’s classmates punched him in the stomach when he defended Willie. Later, Sam calls his mother and makes it clear that the next time she’ll press charges. Did she overreact or act appropriately?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments She may had thrown her weight around, but I completely agree with the threat to file charges. More of these school bullies should be hauled in and charged for the assaults they commit.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I didn't have a problem with the way Sam used her clout to make it clear that the next time they'd press charges. I agree with Anita. This should happen more often.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree. Sam didn't overreact. She did what was needed to protect her son.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I have no problem with Sam's actions. If more bullies actually faced consequences for their actions, it might go a long way toward curbing the phenomenon.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I also agree. When one of my sons was in jr hi, a doctor's son brought a needle and syringe to school and stabbed Bryan. I thought it was a clean, empty syringe until last month, when I learned that he injected a syringe full of dirty water.

I was called and told that it would either be both boys suspended from school or neither. I was hopping mad; you might guess (correctly) that we were not part of the wealthy community. I will stop now.... oh, just one more thing. A teacher friend was in the teacher's lounge when the other teachers were discussing the situation; no one took the side of my son, who had done nothing wrong. Sad, just sad.

That is terrible Charlene!
It amazes me what kids get away with in schools these days. So many excuses are made and all they learn is that they can do whatever they want and there will be no consequences.
