When Sam and her team are called to a motel where the dead body of Rick Lind, the closer pitcher, was found. She also notices that two of the maids seem very young, as well as some of the girls with other guests and arranges a raid by Vice. She also rescues the two young motel “maids.” How do these places manage to operate in plain sight? .

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Code of silence, threat of violence and a lot of bribe money to police. But I do hope this situation was a little over the top. People have been conditioned to let the law enforcement handle a situation, but sometimes just plain folk need to get involved to stop an evil such as this.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think an operation like that would be easy to manage. It's a motel inhabited by druggies and low-lifes looking for a hook-up. The only people who go there already know exactly what is going on and are willing to pay for the services. Random people on the street are not going to be stopping here looking for a room for the night. The motel just ended up with a body in one of the rooms which brought the police to their door or they would probably still be operating.

I actually think it would be harder to move the girls from their hotel to the place they were keeping them without someone noticing.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Someone along the line saw or knew something about this operation and remained silent allowing this evil to exist in their community.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I don' know Anita. If I saw a group of young girls at a hotel, I would think they were housekeeping staff before I thought sex ring.

Until recently, my mind would not go to a criminals owning the hotel.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments People turn a blind eye. They are either complicit or don't want to get involved.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I worked at my aunt and uncle's motel; I had to be fourteen to get a work permit, and all the other maids were older women. Mine was a summer job only. This was even before a/c in the rooms.

Sadly, I think there is a lot of sex slavery of younger girls in this country. Note what's-his-name's private island. There must be a clientele for it. Sickening.
